Those things are always on the web. When they pop up, I shut down Firefox as that seems to be the only way to get away from whichever site is hosting the virus. I will say, it is a very convincing pop up page, looks just like something MicroSoft would have designed.I was surfing the web on my dad's laptop when all of a sudden a virus warning appears and a program is running a scan. This new threat is called Vista Total Security 2011. I hope that I can get it cleaned!
I've run into that a couple of times recently. While searching for aircraft pictures in google as a matter of fact. I clicked the thumbnail image and as soon as I get to the website there was an onslaught of scanning and reporting viruses and trojan horses found. Doesn't respond to anything so I simply hit the off button on the PC. After I power back up I have my always up to date virus checker run a quick scan. I've seen quite a few of these fake Anti-viruses pages pop-up. I just Ctrl Alt Delete and go to processers to shut down iexplore.exe *IE8* before the pop-up can do any damage.
