Nord 3202

my experience with the Horizontal Horizon is the same. Mebbe that is just the Instrument design? But alas, I see no display of roll activity in th HH. Did I miss the unlock command somewhere?

This is a really fine cockpit model, one of the best, freeware or otherwise. Great for VFR at the sup[erb little LFRD scenery of St. Malo / Dinard.

Pressure Distributor/Suction Distributor
Left knob : Activates the gyro-compass
Middle knob : Activates the attitude indicator
Right knob : Activates the turn indicator

The normal pressure is between 12 and 15 piezes.
There will be a red flag on the above gauges if they are not active/activated.

I took the Nord up for a quick spin...and was totally blown away by the quality, the detail, the animation. I don't have many payware aircraft...but this freeware plane is as good as all of the ones I do have, and better than a couple I have. Just WOW!

Also the sound volume changes when you open/close the canopy. Sitting in the rear vc and seeing the head of the front pilot moving makes it a very real experience. The aircraft shakes when you start and stop the engine. And it has a frightening stall! I agree, payware quality.

I took this to LappLand where it is Very Cold.
The aircraft performed as you'd expect a real aircraft to perform, without being anal about it.

I have a test for the external model: in full frame zoom, all the round bits should be round.
If they stay round as you zoom closer, the model is exceptional.
Another test for prop aircraft is: from the VC, open a new window in spot view.
Move the propellor control lever, do the blades rotate?
And so on.

For all the reasons everyone has talked about:-
This is a five star Flight Simulator model.
Here they are:

Nice one, very detailed and still easy on the frame rates. This plane looks a lot like the Fokker S-11. Is that just a coincidence or did Fokker and Nord Aviation share designs?

If memory serves me right the Fokker S-11 pre-dates the Nord by a few years, so, put it down to either coincidence or members of one design team moving to another company...

Nord3202 prop.

Great plane, but the blurred prop disc blades appeared in a static position to me. I added to each [flight.x] section of the aircraft.cfg for solo & dual:

prop_anim_ratio=1.25

Looks better to me now. Anyone else experiment and come up with a nicer looking number?

I noticed, too, that all the models do that grey disk at night. I tried a number of Banana Bob props to test.....still a grey disk at night. Must be something else.... (a texture I haven't considered, model, ??)

I have a feeling it's related to the model, but could it be a texture issue (such as converting it to dxt3 or alpha channel)?

It's been awhile since I played with textures...

Received this from André...

Hello Brent and all the SOH friends !
Thank you for your mail ! We appreciate very well the nice comments on the SOH forum about our model. We are pleasantly surprised that this french aircraft, so little knowm abroad, is much aprreciated.
Regarding the problem you mention, I first recall that this aircraft was modeled with FS9 tools and FSX corrected. We had many problem for this with transparent textures ans the result is not perfect, especially at night. At time we have not better solution. Future projects will be made with FSX tools and perhaps there will be, later, a fully FSX version of the Nord 3202.
Best regards
André

Thanks for the HU - this really is a great freeware aircraft - sort like a high powered Chipmunk. What is it about France and great freeware aircraft? There is quite a bunch now.

:applause:[FONT=verdana, sans-serif] Outstanding AC from the RESTAURAVIA team! Definitely a keeper!
Took the Nord 3202 for a spin somewhere in British Colombia... , and she
climbs ( and flies ) like a dream.
ps. About the "static" propspin: just reduce prop-pitch slightly..

:ernae: This is quickly becoming one of my favorite aircraft. Aprils issue of AOPA magazine lists their top 10 challenging mountain airports. I've spent the last couple of days trying these out. I started out using the Waco, but spent too much time flying in circles trying to gain altitude, but with the Nord, it's a blast ! Thank You, Mr. Chancel and the RESTAURAVIA team for your work and your great attention to detail. Flying the Nord, here,
makes me wish I had a real one (or the $$ to buy one). This thing must be fuel injected ?

Great gem of a plane indeed.

Whilst this may a bit OT, check out the Magister/Zephyr packages by the same team (Restauravia) on flightsim/avsim (can't remember which). They are also brilliant!
