Nord 3202

Many thanks Urs:ernae:

(in FsX)

Another three of them (almost) complete. They go to avsim the next few days.

The orange-yellow N-Reg "Papa Charley":

Something rather old-fashioned, for the Brits:

G-BFSD.jpg

And the former French Aeronavale N° 851. This one was once G- registered, now sold to France and flies as F-AZIJ bare of all paint. I opted for the painted variant with the french reg. It is semi-real, due to texturing problems (overlaping parts and that sort ...):

F-AZIJ.jpg

I searched the net for that Luftwaffe style Nord and found some pics. But to be honest, it's almost impossible to do that paint. The model features some overlapping texture parts on the fuselage and wings which renders the option of any camouflage useless. Heavy distortions will result. It even makes it dificult to apply straight horizontal lines on some fuselage sections too, and D-Day-type stripes on the wings (and fuselage) are also very unlikely to do.

Nevertheless, that lil' bugger has style, even with not so "stylish" paint jobs on it.
They make a real colourful appearance and i think some more will follow. A red one, a olive drab one, yellow, blue, gold, you name it. The only colour you'll never see from my hand is pink ... :d

[EDIT: ... and maybe a plain grey one with Luftwaffe markings ...]

Cheers,

thanks to Dogknot, I got me instruments unstuck and took this birdie up for a fly around the excellent LFRD scenery of St. Malo. It's a wonderful plane for VFR and completely immersive. I yearn for trackIR, but a fast pan rate in the VC really helps.
Loading Urs' nekkid lady/bare metal paint tonite! woo-woo.

Lovely textures on all the new paints!

Thanks "Maloney" for these great paints! :applause: Looking forward to getting them as available.

Nice job on the naked lady paint. Looks really great in the sim. Nice work!

All right, here we go:

Four repaints just went to avsim. The three mentioned above ...

... and zee Germans!

GB-RVC.jpg

The real world counterpart was too difficult to do. Too many texture mapping issues on the model prevented it. And even on that repaint some minor distortions on the wings occur. And i did modern iron cross markings instead of the Third Reich variant. If "zee Germans" had any Nord 3202 at that time (in fact, they had not), them lil' planes could have looked like that.
It sports british registration, of course, as the original one does.

Just search "Nord 3202" at avsim, you'll find them (tomorrow or so ...).

By the way, if one of you chaps would like to do any repainting for the Nord 3202, you can use my silver-gray repaint as a template. Please go ahead ...

Cheers,

Thank you very much .
Just got them , beautiful work.
Sure makes the plane stand out.

Great paints indeed! :applause:
Awesome!

But please let me set a nitpicker tag here:
If "zeese Germans" :d would have had the 3202 in their fleet (in fact they had PA-18 instead for basic training an liaison purposes), it certainly would have beared the "leaner" variant of the iron cross, used in the 50s and early 60s. The Sabres and Harvards wore it too.

Cheers,

Hi Markus,

Thanks for the "lesson". :d

That is, by the way, the reason why i usually do not real world repaints. Too many uncertainities. Like that iron cross.
Actually, i do not even know anything about that green arrow (sometimes black, white), only that it has something to do with the rank of the pilot. And the reg number is a complete thing of my own.

But it has also something to do with the Brits and their affinity towards fictious paint jobs on aeroplanes. I like it, its all about fantasy ...

And to all chaps, many thanks for the comments! :)

Urs, I sincerely hope you didn't get my humble note as a kind of criticism.
I didn't assume a right to do so! :engel016:

Nothing to say against fictious repaints as I did the same to the PZL Otter.
It's all about fun! :ernae:
But for my personal attitude, it's these uncertainities to be cleared that makes repainting appealing to me. I definately like the researching on colours, insignia, lettering, serials etc. to get my repaints "as close as it gets".
My first published repaint of the SF8 Sabre did carry the "wrong" bold iron cross, and this forced me to roll out a revised texture set.

Call me a bean counter... :d

Sali,
Markus.

ohh the Rank markings on the fuselage, pretty simple that....

@ Markus: not at all !
I'm a rivetcounter myself, but on the "fantasy" side of repainting. And i'm always eager to learn something ... ;)

Well, that's why i like putt-putt-planes (if you can call a 230HP engine a putt-putt-thing). :d

Ciao,
