SOH ADMINISTRATIONThe Bf-109e series, f series, and early g series were used in North Africa before the 2nd battle of El Alamein.
As far as Spitfires, I'm not sure about the Mk. II. The Mk. V seems to be the standard-bearer for North Africa.

There were two Spitfire Is in North Africa. They were originally sent to the Turks in 1940 but ended up back in the RAF. These were only used by second-line units in the Nile Delta.
Spit Vs were the first of the type to properly enter service in Africa and the Med
I'd say that first Spitfire V's were available in North Africa in the Summer of 1942. Before that, Hurricanes and P-40's were the main RAF fighters.
