Yep, things WERE lookin' great, then I updated the BIOS and now it won't go into windows again because of a corrupt or missing hal.dll file in the windows/system directory, lol, lol.

Try going in there in safe mode! Should work!

And a good hal.dll file can be found here: http://rapidshare.com/files/220427822/hal.rar

and the correct directory for Xp users is c:\windows\system32.

Well, I did some searching on the other computer and found some info that said to be sure you're booting from the correct drive (I have two internal HDD's and one external). . .sure enough, after switching boot drives. . .I'm back in windows again. I had XP on the other drive from a very long time ago and apparently enough of it is left over to give me that error.

This has definitely been a learning experience!!!
