I've never been up close to one of those beasts, I'd love to stand under the glideslope in a bit of a crosswind and watch one crab in.
Speaking of which, Claudius, I fear that flare on landing broke the back of your bird... ;)

At FlightSim, you should also get the 2-D panel for the early B-52s: b52km_panel.zip and the newer panel for the H versions: b52_panel.zip.

Two other files to look for for this old beast: a new sound file: ba_52.zip and another smoke effect: b52smoke.zip.

It's only flaw is the lack of a VC. Still, though I do not fly her ofter, it is a necessary aircraft in one's historical hanger. :medals::medals:

When I was a kid, around 1955-56, my grandparents lived in Fresno and altho I don't know what base it was that was nearby, B-52's flew right over their house on takeoff.....they were still faily low at that point and to a 5 yr old kid, they were immense. A truly awesome sitght!

Anyways the b52_panel.zip (tested it just after is relase) give on my system a error message (noname.dll if I remember well)
All the gauges are in the panel folder (as usual for me I don't put additional gauges in the gauge folder)
The other panel work great and for the sounds and smoke I'm satisfied with the one actually installed :)
 
Caz, there is far to much whistle in the sound pack you are using. The B-52 had J-57's, non-afterburning, and they had a very deep rumble sound. We often had them fly into Kadena AB on Okinawa while I was there in 1970-71, where we also had F-4s and SR-71s. They sounded a lot like a large group of F-4s.
 
I used the sounds from HJG's 707 with mine. Sounds good but not as good as a real scramble from Carswell AFB back in the 50s OHHH the sight of it one after another for what seamed like an eternity. The howling Engines and all that black smoke. Wasn't very Green but it didn't bother anybody back then.
 
When I was in the Air Force, 69-73, I would drive alongside Riverside, Ca (March AFB) on the way home from my base, (George AFB, Victorville, CA) as B-52's were doing take-offs and landings. They were an awesome sight. Of course, the F-4s, and visiting F-105s at my base were always head turners. But never anything like the SR-71s we had on Okinawa. Nothing will ever replace the sight and sound of the Blackbird.

BTW, the B-52 actually is flown off and onto the runway, usually lifting and touching down the rear set of trucks first/last. (Tail high) It is NEVER flared. It actually flys nose down.
 
impressive bird indeed . i used to go fairly often to orlando international ( KMCO ) and marvel at the beautifull B-52D on the static at the memorial built for it near runway 18L .
one of these days , i'll have to get the alphasim one too .

This is the one I used in my video .... but I don't take off with full flaps (was set two notches if remember well ... )
