Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome FSX P3D

Hey guys.

Sigh...sorry, but I can't seem to make any headway here. Very strange indeed...:kilroy:

I guess there is no choice but to take it down and direct folks to AVSIM or the link from our server above. The file size is too large for a direct upload here and splitting it into 2 smaller packages is not a practical option. Sorry guys

Downloading now .. now where are my leather cap , gomer goggles and silk scarf :icon_lol: ... silk scarf course with a wire in it to really make me look the part ;)<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"><input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

Beautiful scenery... but it kills my sim :( In the one or two frames I got, it looked spectacular! Great work guys :)

I'm not sure if its a bug or not, but I had horrific performance with this addon.. I normally run orbx maxed, but this bogged down to 1 frame a minute... something possibly in the area? Its a shame because its spectacularly nice :(

Try removing the "tallgrass44.bgl". See if that helps. That's a very hi-detail grass and a few others have had problems with it.

Will try that... its a shame, its a gorgeous scenery... you did great work! I hope I can enjoy it with that change :D Sorry to be a pain :p

You are not the only one Firekitten. I have a more than decent rig, and when I tried this scenery, I was getting no more than 15 FPS. Also, on my rig there seems to be an incompatibility with FTX Global. I started out with my He-51 about halfway under the ground. A pitty because it looked really nice. In a slide show that is...

Take care,

Dumonceau

I am a bit surprised to hear this. The scenery was beta tested over and over and over and over again over a two week period and no one reported the problems related by Firekitten and Dumonceau. I'm not saying they aren't correct in their assertion, I'm just curious as to what is going on. When something like this is brought to light it makes me wonder how many others who have downloaded and are basically lurkers only have tried it, gotten similar results and just dumped it rather than post the problem. Thus far I have counted approx 700 downloads, not counting what has been downloaded via the GAS link. Maybe others will read this, decide to share their experiences and post some results. I produced the scenery based on my limited knowledge of building custom objects. . .if there's a fundamental flaw in what I'm doing, then I need to know what it is before I decide to produce anything else. . .certainly before I attempt any payware.

Tried a startup on the runway and found myself in the trees. Used a parking spot and actually started in a parking spot. I am using FTXG.

Getting 17 fps and once well away from ORA it goes up to 29. Works for me!

Ed, it is a fine bit of scenery to fly all the antiques in the hangar!! Thank you to all.

Hello falcon409,
The scenery is beautiful, very well done. But, i´m getting the same performance as the people above ... going from 13-17 fps to 29-30fps as soon as i take off and points elsewhere. Will try the .bgl removal to see what happens tonight. For the record, i´m using FTXGlobal too.

thanks!

I would suggest the same idea I gave to firekitten. . .remove the tallgrass44.bgl file and see if that helps. I looked at the AFCAD and the start positions are correct, so I'm guessing some rogue autogen trees have decided to grow where they weren't placed.

I'm running an Intel Extreme, overclocked. FPS around 15 on the field or just around the airport. Pretty choppy. Taking out any AI helps.

Try locking frame rates at 25. Running unlimited does contribute to stuttering. My system is pretty robust and I'm running Ultimate Terrain X. Locking the rates smoothed me right out. There is a ton of content here that the cards have to draw. The highest poly count item would be the AI plane. All the statics are low density. Also just for our information also back down on the scenery settings until you get best performance and let us know where that occurs. Sorry some are struggling with the scenery.

@ Falcon & Spad: I was definitely NOT voicing criticism to make fun of you two or to badmouth this obviously beautiful creation, but if you run addon scenery on my rig and get 15 FPS at best, then there is a problem. It might be the setup of my sim, but I am used to running the most complex scenery at very high settings getting +/- 25-30 FPS

My rig (recently upgraded)

intel i7 2700K overclocked @ 5.6 Ghz
16 gigs of 1600 Mhz RAM
Two GTX560ti's in SLI
OS and FSX on a SATA3 SSD
FSX locked @ 40 FPS
pagefile optimized and on another HDD

IMHO these frames should not be happening, nor should the elevation problems I experienced. I'm really really sorry to have to say all the above...

Take care,

Dumonceau

Thanks for that and no offence taken. Never, for the moment, thought that you were being critical or being unkind. I just spoke to Falcon and we discussed what we did and did not do and are at a total loss why you, Firekitten and a few others are having issues with the scenery as released. Can you confirm to us that the performance remains unsatisfactory with the tallgrass.bgl file removed? Thanks again

I'll have to reïnstall, as I was pretty frustrated with the elevation and performance issues.

I'll install again and will disable the addon landclass that I am using and will report back later.

I have a question too: did you guys have it tested with FTXG?? Or did you test it yourself with that particular addon? Also, has it been tested with addon landclass products?

Oh, and for a comparison: the Polish New York scenery with the difficult to pronounce name gave me about 20 FPS on high settings on my rig. And that scenery is notoriously heavy!

To be honest, after trying out ORA, I was VERY tempted to do a complete reinstall of my rig to get my FSX as lean as possible... I even prepared for it by downloading the very latest stuff for my rig and even imaged it. That still is a possiblity, but only as a very last measure. A bit over the top for freeware scenery IMHO...

I'll report back later.

Just as a comparison, here are my specs:
AMD FX(tm) 4200 Quad-Core
CPU 3.3ghz
8gig RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 650Ti-2Gig
Dual Monitors (1680x1050)&(1920x1080)
Do not run DX10 Preview
Win7 - 64bit.

All sliders maxed (except water)
fps locked at 25 (fluctuates a bit, but only a few fps)
Nick's tweaks for FSX using NvidiaInspector

*****************************************************************

I don't have FSXGlobal and never will. I run UTX/GEX. I don't use any other boosters/limiters, or any other outside programs to enhance or boost performance. The scenery runs smooth with no stuttering and FPS averages between 23fps and 25fps.
