Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome FSX P3D

Hi, update: someone knowledgeable has mentioned to me that this red texture is the result of missing photoreal scenery for the particular month.

I hope that will help steer you towards a fix; it ended up taking hours of my time today trying to solve, sadly.

I may have found something. . .can you determine for sure if "March" is the only time this occurs? In resetting the seasonal "months" I left out March. . .which might account for the red background since there is no texture associated with that month.

Hi Falcon409,

Yes, I've continued to test: set it to February.... fine. Set it to April, or May.... fine. Only seems to be showing up in March (haven't tested the other end of the year, though!<g>).

Hopefully that's not too much of a headache to correct (I know these things can be more complicated than it might seem).

If it does just turn out to be March, one last question: would you need to revise the "off-season" version of the .BGL as well? I do love the idea of being able to swap those for planes out, and planes hangar'd.

It's a generally wonderful piece of work, just maddening when you go to add something seemingly remote on (picked up GAS's New Standard package this morning... nicely done!), and then something completely inexplicable like this shows up. I've only got a few hairs left on my head to pull in my old age. :)

Will keep an eye on the thread, hoping for a fix. Thanks for your patience.

Likewise tried April 1st and February 1st with no issue, only March seems to cause the red problem.

Just to correct your friend. . .when the photoscenery is compiled, actually prior to that, I adjust the base ground texture to get it to mimick, as best I can, the default seasonal looks. So for this scenery I made a Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring Texture. In SBuilderX, I then designate what textures go with what Months/Seasons. After that I compile the bgl, which loads all the required information for the photoscenery, which requires a very large file (this one is over 300meg). So it isn't looking for a singular texture to fill that month. Rather, as I mentioned in my previous post, the problem was I failed to include "March" in the SBuilderX configuration file, so when it compiled the "photo01.bgl" file. . .March was not included, it didn't know what to load. . .hence the red background.

Gosh, really sorry it took so much of your time to try to solve the problem. . . .I also took time out from what I was working on to find the problem, fix it and get a new file uploaded so that folks who have this scenery can get it corrected. I'll post a link as soon as it's done uploading.

Yes, thank you. I'm certainly not privy to the ins and outs of scenery design nor .bgl compiling, was just fishing around desperately for some clarity on what might be going on. Did lots of uninstalling/reinstalling, scenery library prioritizing, etc...... well, I learned a little more, as a result.

I'm delighted you'll be willing to take the time to fix this; the effort certainly deserves it.

Thanks Again,

Steve

Although its been a while, I seem to recall reading at one point that someone once visited the airfield with a Wildcat (and perhaps a Texan/SNJ on a few occasions), so I had to try it out. Not a problem, and just as I recall reading, you just have to be aware of the definite dogleg to the right when rolling-out.

Hi John,
could you please tell me where you found this beautiful VC-93 repaint?
Best regards,

Stéph.

Maybe it helps someone.

I installed the NY94 to my P3D and noticed problem like this:

It looks like a problem of FTX/ORBX free airports (the same buildings) from FTX Global Airport Pack so I found this files at Prepar3Dv4\ORBX\FTX_GLOBAL\FTX_FTXG_AIRPORTS\Scenery and removed:

  • ADE_FTX_FTXG_NY94.bgl
  • ADE_FTX_FTXG_NY94_CVX.bgl
  • FTX_FTXG_NY94_objects.bgl

and now is ok again!

It happens with quite a few add-on airfields. KDNL Daniel Field is another I've come across recently, and some Hawaiian airports.
