Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Old Rhinebeck is back!

In 1977 (!) we did a house-exchange with an American family who lived in New Palz. Ofcourse we made a daytrip to Rhinebeck and saw the Red Baron and other magnificent men in theit flying machines. GREAT memory!

hertzie.

Yep I went their a long time ago - I love 'living museums' like Old Rhinebeck and the Shuttleworth Collection in the UK - can't abide those who just display aircraft statically and let them gather dust...........

It's magnificent! I'm so grateful to creators who put the effort into freeware offerings of this caliber. The creator (Garciamk) has a few other random small US airstrips available on .to, all of which are equally well done.

Yes he does some very nice work -there are a quite a few developers out there that put out some nice sceneries of the smaller airports. I wish I had their talents. I wonder who can remember the 'airshow version' for FSX? Same for Duxford. It seems now that it is difficult to add AI .....It used to be so easy to do. With FS2020 and 24 things seem to have take a retrograde step in some ways (at least to me) and everything is so static.

Tis definately a winner. I had to install a few of the necessary packages required into 2024, I already had them for 2020.

just wish we could get the AI into to give it a bit of life. I'm not sure how you do it with MSFS2024.........

If you're still running both sims, MSFS Addons Linker makes keeping your packages up to date a millions times easier. I have one folder for my 2020 add-ons, and one for 2020-specific add-ons. I basically enable all the 2020 and 2024 content for FS2024, and just the 2020 stuff for the older sim. (Well, nowadays I only enable the 1920s-1940s stuff for FS2020, but if I was actively flying both it'd be easy to manage.)

The spectators are back! With the original spectator library used at Old Rhinebeck no longer available on Flightsim.to, some users were left wandering around a rather quiet and empty aerodrome. This update replaces those missing characters with a newly placed collection of spectators, now included directly with the scenery—so everyone should see Old Rhinebeck with a little life around the grounds again.

Additional information about the spectator models and their sources can be found in the included PDF

Thanks to all for the kind words, it's really great to see everyone is enjoying the scenery. This was a pretty big project for me, Especially since I'm still relatively new to Blender and scenery development so the positive response really means a lot.

I noticed that one dude was in a sitting position and sitting on an air chair.

What vehicle or how are those views of people taken from?

Found a dune buggy to see the sights of this airport and noticed another dude sitting on his air chair.

As I explore the area I notice a lot of nice detail that went into this. A real treat to drive around and explore the area.
Thanks to Garciamk3k for his time and talents.

Those missing objects were actually fixed in an earlier update, but I’ve since replaced them again as part of the latest library cleanup, so a few dependencies are no longer required. Just grab the latest update and you should be all set. As for the guy floating in midair… apparently he was so committed to sitting down that the missing chair wasn’t going to stop him.:ROFLMAO:

V1.2.1 Changes

Dependency & Package Cleanup

Reduced the number of required external libraries by replacing several previously used assets with suitable alternatives from libraries already required by the scenery.

Dependencies Removed:
TOFTOF Library Objects 2020/2024
Bush & Backcountry Library
Ethnicfs Military Library
Ethnicfs Misc Scenery Objects

Removing these four dependencies reduces the total external library footprint by approximately 3.6 GB

Texture & Package Clean-Up

Performed an additional cleanup and optimization pass on the scenery's textures. Several character textures that had remained at unnecessarily high resolutions were reduced where appropriate: Apologies missed them on Export.

Characters- 4096×4096 → 1024×1024
Additional Texture Optimization-2048×2048 → 1024×1024
Several edge textures were reduced from 1024×1024 → 512×512

Several stray and unnecessary textures were also removed, reducing the raw texture content by approximately 350 MB.After rebuilding the scenery, the final compiled package was reduced from approximately 1.63 GB to 1.18 GB, a reduction of roughly 450 MB (approximately 28%).
