OrbX NA Warbirds Airfield Scenery

I recently migrated to FSX and acquired the Orbx PNW scenery, and while researching this issue I came across this thread.

I've visited many of the PNW Museums mentioned, as well as a few others. Just last week the wife and I took a trip along the Columbia River and stayed in Portland for a couple nights, and along the way we stopped at a great little museum in Hood River.

Anyways, I was curious to know if anyone had uncovered or created any addon sceneries or ai flight plans for any of these museums.

I would like to see them do Abbotsford in BC. Ex-RCAF field, used yearly for a large international airshow, and with all the US strips they have done it would be nice to have one in Canada.
Just in case somebody missed it, Don Grovestine recently released an updated freeware version of Abbotsford including compatibility files to facilitate using it with PNW. To quote Don: "This add-on includes a large selection of custom AI and static aircraft painted to represent airline and privately-owned aircraft based or often seen at CYXX, including every aircraft type currently operated by Conair. CYXX (2012) is compatible with BC Roads (FS9 only), Vancouver+, ORBX FTX USA Canada Pacific Northwest and both FS9 and FSX versions of Ultimate Terrain. The file name is CYXX_1000.zip and it's available at avsim - just search for Don Grovestine.

Snohomish, otherwise known as Paine Field, would be one of the best suited for this, since there is a huge warbird presence at that airport, including the warbirds of the Flying Heritage Collection and Heritage Flight Foundation - between these two museums alone, there is a huge assortment of WWII aircraft (some of the best restorations of their type on the planet) based there. It would be cool to have the museum's hangars, etc., modeled in detail.

I know I have always thought it would be awesome to have a very detailed version of Chino airport, a warbird hub, like that of Fly Tampa's work, or similar.

Yes, Especially since the scenery could could not only include the airfield but the Boeing plant, delivery center etc. Paine Field is a mega hub of aviation, and the scenery is beautiful, and breathtaking on sunny days! :)

I would love to have a 'home' to fly warbirds in the OrbX/FTX NA scenery. Hopefully there are others here who would enjoy such a 'home'?

I have started a thread at FTX. If you are interested then please add your support by posting in the thread

Who knows, with enough interest we might get a new airport add-on for our Warbird flying?

Cheers

Paul
KBLI - Bellingham WA would be another good choice with the Heritage Museum there.

I'm not a designer by any means. I am new to FSX and in general it falls short of some of the great museums in the area.

Historic Flight

Flying Heritage

Heritage Flight

Museum of Flight

Olympic Flight

Tillamook

Western Air & Auto

Evergreen

Pearson Air

British Columbia

UNFORTUNATELY, if you fly to any of these fields in FSX there is little indication of the beautiful, historic aircraft that are on display. FS9 has several great addon airport/museums for the PNW such as McMinnville and Tillamook, but not FSX.

Maybe someday, someone will take up the challenge and add what is needed.

BTW - Great shots, John.

I made the offer before, but my camera is available to anyone who wants to make this wonderful airport (KPAE that is).

If I was into scenery design, I would take you up on that offer. Scenery design is an unknown for me. Although I think I would do well if I made the attempt and had guidance from the right people.

The photography is top notch, John! Beautiful shots.

Maybe it's not a matter of scenery design. I mean, it would help, but perhaps we're discussing something else as well such as a few additional static and ai aircraft at each of the specific fields.

I'd love to fly into Paine Field and see a P-47, P-51, Tigercat, and others either parked in appropriate locations or doing a circuit. Just sayin'

(Thanks for the compliments gents!)

I'm not sure if it's because my auto-gen density is turned down, but the the south end of KPAE in OrbX PNW is more or less vacant on my machine and that's where the FHC and HFF reside. Even the taxiway leading to the HFF isn't present (it's all by itself in the southwest corner), so parking spots would be difficult since they are missing a home base.

For anyone interested, this is a brief layout of Paine Field (including the markings for the FHC's second hangar). I'll give the disclaimer that I am not a Boeing employee and the parking spots are based on observations and not some hard or set rule (that I'm aware of).
