I did query this question about logging-in to the RoF site, to play SP or MP, to FlyXwire over on the AeroDrome forum , he seems pretty well in touch with the RoF team. Here is what he knows. Take is for what it is:
On a side note: Could you Guy's & Gal's just imagine if the OFF team and the RoF team joined forces and made a joint sim together!

As with all sim's not released, and as the OFF team very well knows, speculation is as damaging to a sim community and development team as a well placed burst of FLAK.Hi WF2,
I don't know the details of a login requirement for Rise of Flight, and I would be very careful explaining its function and purpose if I did.
There was one individual who made a statement on a couple of fan forums about needing to be logged on to play single-player missions, and when I asked him for an explanation, he replied:
"Ask Loft He might know."
When I pressed a bit further for an explanation at SimHQ, he replied:
"Loft said RoF sends and recieves a few packets and that's it, any even bare-bone connection will do for that purpose."
A login/password function when starting the game would be much different than a logged-on requirement for playing RoF in single-player.
Still, I don't know any of the details, so that's as far as I wish to surmise.
Of course MP game-play is totally different, and requiring "cheat" checks, and authentication of a playing copy or code is very much needed in this day and age, but for single-play, these requirements would be much less necessary IMO.
On a side note: Could you Guy's & Gal's just imagine if the OFF team and the RoF team joined forces and made a joint sim together!
