P-3 Thread continued...

When I got out of the Navy after my first enlistment (broken service, June 76-December 1980), I was with VP-90 for a brief time. They would pick up reservists who lived in or near Indanapolis, and fly us up to NAS Glenview. This was the squadron symbol when I was with them in 1977.... THANKS for fixing and uploading the textures, GE! NC

"Sorry Charlie"

The replacement for the P-2 Neptune was the Lockheed P-3 Orion. Based on the Lockheed Electra airliner airframe, the P-3 has become the standard ASW aircraft in the world today.
This print "Sorry Charlie" depicts a P-3B Orion banking over and inspecting a Soviet 'Charlie' class submarine.

Look for VP90_KBT_P3_FSX_Mod1.zip to replace VP90_KBT_P3_FSX_Mod.zip - A couple of textures were updated (Tail lettering left off one texture and VP-90 signage was added to both sides of fuselage of all aircraft). This file supercedes VP90_KBT_P3_FSX_MOD.

Edit: VP90_KBT_P3_FSX_MOD1.zip now available for download. If you downloaded the older file, I suggest you replace it with the newer (MOD1) file.

reverse thrust

My question has to do with reverse thrust.

I am able to assign this a specific joystick button, no problem. But it just doesn't seem to have the effect (power) that it should. I should be able to audibly hear the change in prop pitch, and visibly see the effect, shouldn't I?

Any advice? Thanks. NC

Door and ladder issues

Door will open and close but the ladder will not lower/raise. It use to but as of late, pressing Shift + E2 isn't working and, I noticed the ladder switch in the cockpit is not working either.

I use to press SHIFt + E and then the 1/2/3/ keys and they would function. Don't know what to do.

Same issue here as well

YES!! Misery does love company! I have NEVER been able to get the ladder to work on the latest P3. Have got it to work on the older FSX native KBT Electra and double checked my Shift + E + 1/2 technique on the AS Phantom canopies (I haven't lost the touch). Would really like to get this animation to work and solve the mystery why you guys had it working but have now seemed to have lost this function.

I did a subdued version of VP-45 for the previous version.

What has to be done to the textures to make them useable on the current version.

Russ

This is a moot request because I can't find my original work. HD failure awhile ago.

Ladder now works

Do ask me what I did, but the ladder now functions.

I was airborne in the EP3 and thought I'd try the ladder with that version and it worked with the VQ1 bird. Then I thought I'd try the P-3C and hit the SHFT E +2 key and the ladder came out.
Go figure. Sometimes, for what ever reason, it will act up and not fold/unfold. I was thinking perhaps one of the other keys mapped to this model i.e. flaps/landing gear interfere or confuse things.
It's just a thought.

Are you speaking of the one that I posted here? I made it compatible with V3 of the KBT P3-C Orion. I managed to get the ladder to work.

GE

I did one several KBT versions ago but I can't find it now so my question is not issue that requires an answer.

It has to be 5 years ago.

I guess Lo-Vis is better description than subdued.

As far as the hatch and ladder I have no problems.

After the hatch is opened I hit the Shift E and 2, It extends for me.The thing I noticed it is a 2 step event.

Sorry, I thought you was looking for a VP45 texture that would work on the Latest and greatest version of the KBT P-3C. That's why I responded. :adoration:
This version was originally for the V2.9 KBT.

KBT Complete P-3 collections

I followed a link that KBT provided and downloaded file P3C Orion FSX and it contains all the P3 models or variations in one file. (Complete and unabridged)

What I did (suggestion) was after the D/L, I renamed it to signify that it contains all various KBT's P-3 models.

The Lazy ladder or no show ladder

I think I may of found a work around for the P3 Ladder that doesn't open when you press SHIFT +2. What I did when that happened was to slew up (F3) (raised the landing gear - optional)
then unslew and fly for a second or two) and then lower the plane to the ground (F1) and unslew. Then, and at least for me, pressing SHIFT + 2 would make the ladder unfold - after that
I could select another P3 or any other P3 and the SHIFT + 2 would work the ladder. Wierd I know but, that is what I experienced. :adoration:

GE, that is quite an astounding discovery! How on earth did you hit on such an obscure solution? Off to try it out for myself ..
