Alaska at dawn! This was my view on the first leg of today's flights on my Round the World hop list that I have been flying for several years now. Three legs later and I officially turned the corner to start the final series of flights back to the originating airport. Just 26 legs left out of almost 1,000 in total and I will be back at KATW Outagamie, WI.

Duckie - am I right you can launch and trap non SWS aircraft on the SWS Coral Sea? Wonder why my install doesn't trap. It's a good looking ship!

expat, so far I’ve been able to launch and trap on both SWS Midway and Coral Sea with SWS F4B, Razbam A-7, and Dino’s A-4, which are the only one’s I’ve tried. The only problem I’ve had with any of it is the deck layout system doesn’t work for me which is why I’m going to the trouble of building my own. Once I finish Coral Sea I’ll do one for Midway’s air wing.

Good stuff Duckie. Just to be clear I am trying to use the SWS CV-43 as a straight simobjects/boat AI Carriers add-on and dispense with their overly engineered CEX gauge/configurator thing - too fiddly for me. May be why it loses the trap wire functionality. I think the SWS dev confirmed it was made differently than other carriers. Assume you are using the configurator profile tool for each flyable aircraft?

Just checking the screenshots here for the first time in a long while. Thanks for the nostalgia, I really miss the multiplayer carrier sessions I did in the past in P3Dv4 with my friends :)

I think I asked this question in the past already, so I apologize for the repetition, but why don't you guys activate the "cast / receive shadows" on the simobjects/scenery objects in your graphic options ? Having the plane sitting on the deck without having a shadow underneath looks a bit off.

expat, I'm using the carriers via AI carriers. I'm not using their configurator because I just couldn't get it to work. So, I dropped back and installed the SWS Battle Group separately in my addons folder and set them up in AI carriers like any of my other carriers and it worked like a charm, including the visual cable engagement and retraction. I didn't do anything special, no workarounds.

Daube, thanks for asking and the reminder about shadows. I turned them off initially when first installing with the intention of adding "eye candy" gradually as I got more settled inn the sim. I just haven't gotten around to turning the shadows back on to check and see what the frame rate hit would be. I'm still getting used to things and really haven't done much exploring the terrain yet.

...more progress with my CV43 deck layout project. All the aircraft types are finally aboard with the latest addition of the A-6 Intruder from VA-95. Now just have to add 4 A-6's and 2, maybe 3 more A-7s and it'll be done. Cats 1 and 3 will be available for launch and the landing area will be clear for traps when complete. Some WIP screen shots below.

FINISHED!!!!!
SWS CV-43 USS Coral Sea (P3Dv4.5) using AI carries dot net. Entire carrier setup is installed outside the
SWS system and is used in AI carries just like any other stand alone carries (or ships) would be. Aircraft
are all AI converted to Static models using Static Aircraft Model Maker (SAMM) and individually placed
using MCX. All aircraft models (except the VA-22 A-7s and the A-3 Skywarrior) were repainted by me
using the original AI textures as a base for Air Wing 15 (CVW-15) in 1973.

Note: The F-4s are Virtavia FSX AI with full texture sets. All 1024x1024 files reduced to 512x512. This
didn't cause any issues with frame rates on my system like I thought it might.

For expat -
notice the blast deflector activated in the catapult screen shot and the cable catch in the trap shots.
(Non-SWS) Razbam A-7 cats and traps.
