From the outset this was produced as the Pacific campaign through the eyes of three individuals (Robert Leckie, John Basilone and Eugene Sledge) whose intertwined stories took them from one end of the Pacific to the other. Read the book It's far better.Unlike BoB where we followed a particular unit, whether guys went home or not, we were always with the unit. Pacific feels to me to be more of a story line about individual people rather than about the unit.

Well I don't know about anyone else, but this little thing has turned into somewhat of a flop in my book, compaired to BoB.
Anyone else?
I haven't had the chance to watch the new series, but am sorry to hear about the bad reviews. I myself was fearfull that BoB was just too good for anything similar to follow. They set the bar very very high, and I doubt any motion picture or series will come close for awhile to match that....
This has been a recurring comment on every web forum I visit that makes mention of The Pacific.
Everyone had high hopes for this series too.
