Pendercrafts F4U1 Birdcage

Thanks...and just so you guys know...since this is the birdcage version, there will be no available ordnance loads due to the fact that the birdcage did NOT have pylons.

This model will feature the accurate dive gear (gear will come down as speed brakes in a dive) and will have functioning machine gun animation.

Wishing you luck with this one, The Corsairs, especially the early ones are very interesting projects, repleat with all the early-bird foibles on the ground and in the air (and at the land air interface).

Cheers: Tom

Yes the birdcage model was rejected by the navy due to its errrm mishaps when trying to land on CV's, and then given to the marines in the beginning.

Ours will be able to land on the ship just fine LOL

purely in the interest of rivet counters I offer this detail which is frequently overlooked
numerous technical problems had to be solved before the Corsair would enter service. Carrier suitability was a major development issue, prompting changes to the main landing gear, tail wheel and tailhook. Early prototypes had difficulty recovering from developed spins since the inverted gull wing's shape interfered with elevator authority. A small spoiler was added to the leading edge of the starboard wing to reduce adverse stall characteristics
HTH this is of some use

Nearly cracked that problem, together with Ronnie ...
But all the combinations/permutations of possible (right or wrong) pilot action w.r.t. gear handling makes me :isadizzy: sometimes ..:icon_lol:
But we'll get there !!
