this is a link to a flikr page from "yubanet" which has some good photos of the "American fire" burning just east of me.right now,7:12am i cant see the neighbors house behind me there is so much smoke laying low on the ground, but soon the wind will shift to whats known as "up-slope" conditions and will clear out soon.at night the winds reverse to "down-slope" and we get nailed with smoke so thick its like london fog,,or what we call "tule fog" ( spoken as tuli fog) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tule_fog ,its intteresting stuff.if you click on through some of the pics, you will come to views of the smoke from the airport at "blue Canyon" ,which is kinda cool for us flight simmers..one shot shows the only "structure" i know of at the airport,,which is a deck, yoou can see it in the distance on the left,on the hillside, when there is a large fire here,CalFire and the USFS use the state fairgrounds near my house for "fire camp" and the blue canyon airport for the helitack base ,and ofcourse grass valley ATB and McClellan ATB for fixed wing.the otherday T43-T44..both P2V Neptues, and one of the BAe-146's (i heard T-40 landing at MCC,but not real sure that was it)were working the fire.
