Post-Apocalypse Scenery

I found an 'interesting' add-on from www,avsimsu.com, that is supposed to show post-apocolypse scenery.
This mod immerses you in the atmosphere of the post-apocalypse, you need to install it on a naked sim without third-party mods, but you can also use them, only the left scenes will look like oases. All phototerrains are based on real ruins, most of the buildings are bombed.

I thought that I'd give it a try. It does say that it has to be installed in FS2004 that has no mods (additional added scenery), & I did a 'clean' FS2004 install.
It did not change the scenery at all.

Maybe someone out there is willing to give it a try?
Note that the included 'OceanHeightField.bmp did cause the sim to freeze, so I replaced it with one from a working sim.

, thanks for your tip. Will give a try asap. Let's see how the world would or could look s like. Once a project for which no one probably has an experience and is open for any imagination...

Sure, could be interesting, tho'.
Would need a suitable aircraft/vehicle.
We already have 'Space' scenery, so why not a 'Mad Max' scenery to compliment the theme?

Could be fun, Bernard. Thanks for giving it a try. After installing it, no scenery change, apart from the colors a bit brown.
If you do try, remember to replace that OceanHeightField.bmp which caused the sim to hang,

That's what I found as well.
Such a pity.. it could have been interesting.
It does give a slightly different tint to the scenery, but nothing else.

Just an excerpt from the accompanying text of the download.
"All photo terrains are based on real ruins; most buildings have been bombed."
To find something like that appealing, I think you have to be pretty callous, especially in these times.
That's my personal opinion.

No, not really!
Firstly, it is just a game. -nothing gets blown up like in Combat sims.
Secondly, it's just scenery (if it works) that could be interesting to devise a 'story' about it.

Once the scenery in "installed", look for a bat file or some such buried in t he folder which actually swaps out the files. Just a guess.

Nope, nothing there.
Just Scenery\World\Texture files & a Texture folder.
Also stars.dat & suneffect.cfg & an Effects folder.
As I said earlier, the included 'OceanHeightField.bmp did cause the sim to freeze, so I replaced it with one from a working sim.

Just BTW, re the bat files to change things..
The best way that I've seen is with "TerraBuilder Moon" that has a Config panel to choose between the Moon scenery & FS2004 scenery.
It installs AircraftTB, AutogenTB, SceneryTB, TextureTB, UiresTB & WeatherTB
The TerraBuilder Moon config panel switches between S2004 folders to the above ****TB folders seamlessly, almost like having a sim within a sim.
