Went to Daughters school this morning for an Assembly Ceremony with WW2 Vets. of the Wirral British legion. they were all at the Normandy, D-Day Landings and Invasion. No Aircrew though.

Very well done by the School, good to see some folks in UK are wakening up to supporting the UK Armed Forces, as the Government aren't.

Tea and cake afterwards and was able to talk with these Guys and shake their hands. Brilliant !!! :d Was really good to see them talking with the kids too.

Made my day. :applause:

My Pa joined the Winnipeg Rifles Bat., 2nd Canadian Rifle Division in early 1944 at age 17.During basic training he got caught being under age.Was then sent to the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Batalion for advanced training(Commando's) and by June 1945 was shipped out to Vancouver and then put on a ship destined for Hong Kong in July.This boat was also loaded with a Mechanised group, a Batalion of sappers and the PPCLI. August 4th they were close to Hong Kong when the order came to stand by.DO NOT LAND! So his troup ship floated around waiting,for what the men knew nothing of. Then the word got spread around that a big BOMB had flattened a Japanese city,still they stayed off shore. A week later,they heard another A-bomb had sacked another city and the Japs had surrendered.These guys never got to fire a shot in anger which pee'd off my father. All were so seasick from almost a month at sea in a crowded ship.Never ever made shore and were sent home for a total of six weeks at sea. God bless all the service men and women who gave the supreme sacrifice in the Service of their country.:medals: Salute.

Havent been on lately been working my butt off but had to ~S~ S! all vets and current service men and woman. Hopefully I will be able to get on and play some more here in a couple days.

A sincere "Thank You" to all Veteran's and the Men & Women of the Services here in the US as well as the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and France.

What started out as Armistice Day for the End of WW I and has had different names in different Countries including Remembrance Day, etc. has always always been not so much like Memorial Day When we Honor the dead......but a day to Show our Honor and Gratitude to those who Died and to those that Survived all Wars...as well as to those who currently Serve.
