Been trying out the new game, you have to go through the tutorial first before you can progress onto the missions.
Some things to share before you start.
Print out pages 10/11/12/13 of the manual as these have reference to the keyboard keys, (still trying to work out what IIKM means).
Once you have installed and start the game you can get rid of the opening video by hitting enter.
Don't go for the "traditional" measurement unless you can think of distance's in cable's, leave it in meters.
You can shut off the music in OPTIONS/VIDEO,AUDIO. And alter the keyboard keys in Control/Keyboard.
Type in a name for you to be known by and click accept.
You are now ready for your first tutorial.
After an intro speech, you are told to follow a friendly ship which will lead you out to a training mission, stay on its port side until it circum-navigates around the little island, then cross over to its starboard side as it heads out to open sea.

You can adjust your camera angle with the mouse and the magnification with the scroll button. The camera angle can also take you underwater for some neat shots.

You will meet another friendly, (who will promptly cross your bows and collide with you if you haven't gone over to the starboard side of friendly 1).
Don't slow down, (if you do the other 2 just float about swopping lie's about you). Look out forward for a odd reflection on the sea on the horizon, this will be the enemy convoy.
Now what the instructions don't tell you is that you have to destroy the escorting Eboats before you can attack the merchantmen. I made this mistake several times and got my ass shot off and sunk.

Don't expect help from the alleged friendlies, they just get in the way and mess you up.
On my sixth try at this mission I found the light and sunk the escort first with gunfire from the stern 20mm. It is now at this point that the game allows you to use the torpedo's and the friendlies get more hazardous.
By pressing key 4 multiple times the torpedo sights come up on the bridge, and now you can aim at your priority target.
Tip, your TTubes are not aligned straight so targets going right to left across your bow are nominal at 500 meters.
Now the crew will obey your commands to repair the ship/engines or fight fires.
Now here's summat not in the manual...If you press 5 key this will give you a torpedo's view once its been launched.

I tried to get the screenshot of the explosion underwater but once it hits, your view reverts back to the same as key 3.

As you can see in the above, the enemy ship has now disappeared off the radar screen and the friendlies are getting annoying.
A nice touch is the way that survivors can be seen to jump off the stricken ship.

So, off to sink the second merchantman, bloody friendlies keep getting in the way. Needless to say I missed with my second fish.

But if you really get pi:angryfir:
off with them, then cross over their bows and drop a depthcharge by hitting B key, you may not pass the mission but it is such a relief to get back at the little ****s.
I still can't get some of the keys to operate, such as Print Screen, so I used screen capture in my PSP, it does result in a delay in the action while the software does this. Perhaps, as I progress the other keys will become active, hope so.
Anyone else with any thoughts?
BTW, the PT-Boats site is located here

click on the flags on the left of the stopwatch to get the site in English, there's a number of things you can do on the site, I'll let you lot find out what.
