Question about bomber formations.

Hello everybody, I am trying to build large bomber formations for a mission. Eveytime I set the bombers, once the mission loads they all start breaking formation, flying around, doing all kinds of crazy maneuvers. I tried setting them up one mile apart, half a mile apart, at different altitudes, etc... anyone has any hints how to make nice, realistic, bomber formations?
 
Yes i bought a nice B 17 that comes with missions that include a full flight of sister planes...we took off and they all went tally ho all over the map and then formed up after a bit. i just kept plodding along and all worked out well for the Memphis Belle. Now i just got to get thru 24 more :)
