RAF Oban

No, I didn't do new shorelines for UTX europe. The Scotflight ones should be pretty close (they did a georeferenced shoreline, apparently just not the same ones UTX did). If someone could send me an overhead picture of Kerrera (as large as possible) with UTX I could put a new shoreline together. LOL...shorelines are always a mesh thing. My email is in the readme file.

Thanks,

Jim
email on its way
i could try the scotflight
to see if its better
thats one reason i stopped doing scenery
ya never know what people have installed
the other reason is cos im not a lota good at it:173go1:
thanks
H

I seem to have a different problem - I have no static Catalinas. I installed the degor40 option and tried putting OBAN at the top of my scenery.cfg file but it didn't help. Is there another file I should have?
no just start at a parking place
you are by the fence at the entrance

OK, looks like the Scottflight and UTX Europe coastlines are close, but If you use the Scotflight version, you will only get a couple of buildings on the Oban side. What I'll do is kick the default shorelines out of the cvx files and put in the more accurate shorelines. It shouldn't take too long.

Next time it's obvious: I'll just delete the island and go from scratch!

Thanks!

Jim

For those of you who are using UTX Europe (or will be when it's out), here is how to make the shorlines align better and still get all the Oban buildings:

In your degor09/scenery folder, replace cvxMDEFOBAN.bgl with the cvxMSFOBAN.bgl file from your segor09/scenery folder. Install degor09. This will correct your modern version of Oban.

For the 1940's version:
In your degor40/scenery folder, replace the cvxDEFOBAN.bgl file with the cvxSFOBAN.bgl file from your segor40/scenery folder.

I'll put this out as a utx package within the next few days.

BTW, if you use both UTX and Scotflight (with the Scotflight shorelines disabled), just install the scotflight version.

Note: This will get you in the ball park. I'll go in over the nest few days and move all the stuff around to better match the shorelines.

Being relativly new i need to ask what is Scot Flight? is it a scenery package for Scotland? i would love to have an improved scotland as i have famliy on Skye and love the higlands and am working to improve my FSX install gradually as the default scenery is ...well, quite blank in most places :) thanks for any input. and the UTX Europe is Ultimate Terrain i am guessing, the payware? thanks for any info and the pics of Oban look great :) nice work indeed.

Yes Scotflight is a scenery package that improves Scotland. They have 2 packages out, Highlands and Islands and an RAF base package as well.

Just put Scotflight into google.

Cheers!

Jim

JIm, thank you very much for this fantastic scenery. Simply wonderful with all that carefully researched landmarks! A must have!
