Rafale C for FS2004

fsafranek

SOH-CM-2024
The well known Rafale by Gator was released back in December 2002 and while it has been successfully ported into FS2004 there has never been a publically available Rafale built specifically for FS2004. That will change very shortly with the release of a new Rafale C from Vincent Hellegouarch, Philippe Devallez, and Alexandre Baffert (Rafale VPA). The aircraft will feature four external configurations, four texture sets, and a complete and very clickable virtual cockpit and 2D instrument panel. Please visit this preview page for more information and images.

You can also visit their website/forum to register and download the POH (still in French language but it shows the depth of the systems).

Cyril's model was fabulous, but of course not up to today's level of detail internally.
I never would have dared to dream...
FS2004 lives!

Thanks for the heads up Frank, this will be one to watch, with enormous anticipation.

Thanks for the news, I'm looking forward to trying out the aircraft when it becomes available. I registered at their forum.

It is their first effort (not obvious when you see it) and they are a little apprehensive about releasing it into the wild but it is a worthy effort. There is a lot of depth in the cockpit which is always welcome. Once they do all three versions a paint kit will be very welcome as there are a lot of optional schemes out there, especially on the two-seaters used for demonstrations at airshows. Just getting her started is a bit complex but when you follow the instructions it all makes sense and adds a lot of realism. And being freeware there is plenty of room for enhancements/modifications from the flightsim community. And SOH is always a great place for that to stem from.

For a "first effort", I am very impressed with what I see. I wish I was that good.

I wanted to keep this one current, and to let the "devs" know that there is some interest here, in their Rafale project. Not that any of them reside here at SOH....:bump:

An English version of the POH is now available if anyone wants to study up before release. It is available on their website in the download section (Les téléchargements). I was able to read it earlier today and gave a couple suggestions to make sure I understood some things. It really is a quite complex (I originally wrote "complete" but that is true as well) aircraft in the amount of information provided.

Release postponed ... cause legal matter ... ??
Yes and No. Due to what happened with Roland Laborie's Rafale for FSX and how he was ordered by Dassault to take it off market, these guys have written to Dassault to make sure that it is ok for them to release their freeware version. I would say that when you live in the same country as the huge corporation that has the power take legal action against you, you might take it a little bit more seriously than if you live a few thousand miles (and an ocean) away.

Roland used the company name "Dassault" in the title of his payware product. In hindsight, simply calling it a "Rafale" would probably have been a better marketing decision. So you learn from other's mistakes. Otherwise it is ready to go.

So it's half and half ...
Quite funny from Dassault
The old Dassault should be jealous because his plane is unable to be sold .. but have success in the virtual world of simulation
At least .. we have the tutorial .. (secret défense ? .. lol)
Vive la Françe .. ROFL

Well... hopefully we'll be able to fly her, but if not (and I really don't see any reason why, but if not...) so be it. I've had Cyril's Rafale all along. Thanks for the update... downloading the manual now.:salute:

I'm sure it will get released but as they say, "it is easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission".
Once you've asked your hands are tied.
