i saw in one of the threads, someone mentioned the redwing L1049, think thats right, anyway, will that work in 2024? i really wanted the PMDG 737, id have paid $150 usd or more to get the full package, plus the pro desk sim, 737 package, theyve had the main throttles ect for the bravo throttle for a time, then they added fuel cutoff switches, but now theyve added a overhead ,it mounts on to of the bravo ? the yoke anyway. or if you are building like a full cockpit, you can mount it above your head, has the start switches etc, and they also have a stand alone AP, not sure why the one on the throttles wouldnt be good enough, but ive never used to auto pilot ever, no clue even to how to use it.if they upgrade it, and hopefully they add the coulson 373 airtanker (firefighting) id be beside myself lol.

oh man i got off track again, sorry, is or does the redwing connie even work in 2024? i cant see anything about what simulators its even compatible with either on the redwings site, or the one you can buy it from.

thanks all
Davey

I have the non-MSMP version and yes it does work. The only thing I've found that does not work is the autopilot attitude hold and adjustment wheel. So that function works like an altitude hold instead. Not a big issue at all.

I am a little confused… are you asking about the Connie or a 737 or both?
I did try the Redwing Connie early on in the FS2024 saga, and it did not work for me.
Since despite all the claims to the contrary the 3D model is still horribly wrong in several places, as a member of the old Connie Team around Manfred Jahn I can’t bear looking at her this way.
No idea if there had been any updates through their discord channel, but no official updates from Redwing or the resellers.

Hello Sunny9850,
I believe they are working, RW, on getting their Connie up and running in FS2024. and I believe the developer mentioned a complete cockpit overhaul, and not sure when it will be released, but hopefully sometime this year. What are the issues you are seeing in the 3D model of the RW Connie? I know one thing, that under certain lighting conditions, the skin of the aircraft has a pattern built into it, maybe the Roughness channel, that takes away from the smooth finish. It looks like the airplane went through a really bad hail storm. I'm no expert in Photoshop or painting with the developers paintkits, but I wish someone could figure it out.
I fly both the PMDG DC-6 and the RW Connie in FS2020 and FS2024. I like FS2024 much more than FS2020 and both airplanes fly very well in FS2024, except for a few small bugs. The Redwing Connie latest version it 2.5. I also ask the developer if there was a way to get rid of the contrails that the Connie produces at 16,000 feet, rain or shine and to me it looks like a smoke screen is being laid down behind the aircraft. They said that they will offer users the ability to turn off that effect in a future update. I am not sure what triggers it, but it sure will be nice to not see it in the external view above 16,000 feet. I tried everything I could to remove it, but was unsuccessful, editing the cfg files. I wish PMDG would develop a L-749. That would be totally cool and who wouldn't love to fly a L-749 in FS2024. A DC-4 and maybe even a DC-7, or a Convair 340/440. Propliners are the best and forget the rest. As a side note the RW Connie is as good as the PMDG DC-6 IMHO. We are very fortunate that RW developed a Connie for us to fly and I am sure they will keep improving their Connie well into the future. At least I hope they will. RW has a very good AI feature for all 3 crewmembers, they can manage everything which is really interesting to listen along as they go through the checklists. During engine start you can go into the drone camera mode and be the fire guard when they are starting the engines. The smoke effects are great and so are the sounds.

The entire cockpit area, but mainly the windows of the external model are just wrong. Looks like someone squished her on both cheeks and pushed inward. I did mention that multiple times in their discord and shared multiple picture and videos with them of both original 1049 and our rendition for FS9 and FSX. They did promise to revisit that in the 3D model but it never happened.
A second minor deviation is the lower scoop on the engine nacelles. They are also not even close to the real thing.
I personally don’t spend too much time outside of an aircraft in MSFS, and with one like the Connie with complex radial engines there is certainly plenty of stuff to do while flying along.
But I for one can not get over the look I see when FS first loads the aircraft and you are forced to do the walk around. It’s sort of like a bad Pontiac Fiero based Ferrari replica. I could never ever drive something like that.
Many of the other things RW has included in his release are actually quite nice. So don’t get me wrong, I do not want to disparage anyone from trying their hand at the Connie.

some good old and new fellows in FS2024.

Thomas
Hello Thomas, I fly both the DC-6 and the L-1049 and am having a texture issue with the L-1049. I am not sure what is causing this effect but think it might be with the Roughness map and a Channel within it? I fly with some of your paints on both aircraft, and thank you for uploading them for us to use. I don't have issues with the DC-6, but the Connie at different sun angles can cause the effect I am experiencing. Since you are an expert painter and knowledgable using Photshop or Blender, maybe you could investigate this issue? Thanks, Ed
