Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Reinstalling

OK, I should know all of this stuff and I have tried reading through the various threads, but please look at this as my belt and braces* approach and treat me kindly.

I lost my previous PC due to an accident, so I'm reinstalling from scratch. I now have a stock install, patched to 3.1a, which will form the basis of some of the wonderful expansion packs that people cleverer than I have developed. But before I leap in, I would like to clear up a couple of things:

1) Ankor's Shaders, one of those clever people. Can I, should I, install them into this vanilla install, thereby ensuring their presence in any expansion installs?
2) Firepower. Can I install this into the "Upgrade v2" without any issues?
3) Will Shaders cause any issues with the earlier expansions, Korea for example?
4) Do I still need to install the NEK packs, or do the expansions remove the need?
And 5) There used to be a mod for getting rid of those awful white wing tips on the stock aircraft, is it still around & cannot somebody point me toward it?

Thank you. Be gentle. 😁
