I'm using these settings, based on maint manual. The appearance is still not compressed enough, which is an animation issue, I think. Beyond our control.View attachment 177387View attachment 177388

LS 306, Ban Pak Ham. Laos. Enemy attacks the airfield from the western side, hidden in the bushes and tree lines. Ordinance has to be deployed in close vicinity to the friendlies.
Went well! Layed down rockets and two Mk82s. Except for the outcome, clobbered myself by executing a roll to the east which was way too sharp - flew up side down too long, too low and was out of ideas quickly - so the engine sputtered and quit. Was able to roll her back and belly land in a ravine. Oh well.... Air America picked me up quickly.

JanKees,

Just out of curiosity, what software are you using for your repaints? I used Photoshop CS4 (perpetual license) on my old Windows 7 computer and loved it. However, with my new Windows 11 Home family computer that old perpetual license won't fly, and a subscription-based Photoshop solution is not in the cards for me.

Thanks,

Tommy

I'm using CS6

Thanks for the quick reply.

It seems that Adobe has taken down the activation servers for our versions of Photoshop so no future reinstallations even with the "perpetual license" versions. My old Windows 7 computer still runs, so I'm not totally dead in the water, but I had hopes of fully retiring that computer and sending it to the local recycling center.

Thanks,

Tommy

Yeah, I'm going to test some other software to see if I can find a good compromise in features. I'll check out GIMP.

Thanks,

Tommy

I use paint.net, it's very powerful and intuitive.
I find the Gimp almost totally baffling, but I do use it to unpack paintkit PSD files into PNGs to use in paint.net :)

Paint.net is a good software but if you want make advanced modifications but I think that Gimp is a better solution.
Recently I left my old v2.10 for the new release 3.x and it's very powerful: the template used for the PBY are occupy more than 180 MB in 4K and the modification of the various layers hasn’t crashed the program yet.
In conjonction with Krita and Inkscape you have a powerfull toolset for image processing.

Currently, I use Paint.net for one thing: open DDS file to a quick modification because Gimp 3.x don't open theses files ...

I just need to spend a week learning Gimp...
Paint.net for one thing: open DDS file to a quick modification
I think you lose quality each time you modify and save a DDS file, better to modify a PNG master file?
