now that is the kind of product endorsement I can relate to. will wait a few days/week for the initial download fervour to dissipate a bit and will then treat myself to an early Xmas present (I'm sure I deserve it)

Yes, they offer it on CD/DVD as an option, if you can get into the store, I haven't been able to connect so far. The only way I'd buy it (or anything this size) is on disc, especially given the difficulties many have experienced so far. A day or more to D/L a program? Ridiculous. I've had problems logging into the support forum as well and navigating around the forum once in. At this point I can wait until the dust settles and we get some more feedback from end users. It will probably need some quick patches too, the nature of todays software I guess.

Just tried again, this time it only got to the start of file 4.

It will not resume or continue, it flashed a message saying, This Sever does not support Resume. What the hells going on with Flightsim Store,
any idea?

After all the Hype with this you would have thought they would have found a better way to download it. It's the same old story, you pay for it then you become a Beta tester for it. I do wish they would sort any problems before releasing it.

This isn't a matter of beta testing it. This is a matter of the store itself, and their servers. They are probably completely inhibited by the hundreds of people trying to get the program at the same time. Some are getting very good download rates however.

Perhaps you need to take the problem up with the vendor?

I agree there Severs must be swamped, but with a product like this you would of thought they would see that coming and uped the bandwidth a bit more.

I think you need make that "thousands" of people.

The Flight Sim Store is even currently down due to overload.

I just don't think they were quite imagining how much we folks out in sim land wanted Tim's environment engine.

I started the download Sunday night and it finished around 1:20 Monday afternoon. As mentioned, it took an hour for the download to unpack and 30 minutes to installed the program.

But it is immense! It will take 6 minutes or thereabouts to install any theme into FSX, but once there, you'll love it. Frame rate hits are nil, even using the 4096 X 4096 3-D cloud textures in my set-up.

Your patience will be rewarded once this program is in the bag and installed. I would like to ask any of the REX gang here one question about storing the download on DVD. How should it properly be done? With the download being so large, I wanted to burn the main files in the download to a DVD, but was wondering if they would work or if I need my reg key and initial download file?

I was having the same problems until I did the following and wham-1.8 M download speed-1 1/2 hours later done.
Right now the FSS servers are down so try this when they come back online:

Got it to work
Heres how:
1. When the downloader hung up and I could not get it to work, I hit the cancel button
2. When it asks if you want to download later hit NO ( thanks SolarEagle!)
3. It will ask if you really want to delete the data file-YES
4. I started all over again and now it downloading at 1.87MB/sec


ALso try this as well:
If you open up a Windows Explorer window or My Computer you can simply type %APPDATA% into the address bar and it should open the correct folder. Then in there will be the GetRightToGo folder. Please try deleting the contents of your %APPDATA%\GetRightToGo folder and restarting the downloader.

If one were to try and estimate the number of purchasers on their site at any given moment and in the middle of a download that could take them maybe 1 day or more tying up the lines it kind of answers the why. And the ones having issues after they make it all the way and install it can't be sure if it's a bad D/L or their lack of experience/knowledge about the product.

One thing I would suggest that would help everyone from the developer to the purchasers of any add ons would be for developers to make their Readmes and Help Manuals available for review on their websites as soon as they are completed. Aerosoft does this with some of their releases, I think it's one of the smarter ways to go about marketing a product and for those who will actually read it they hit the ground running after install. It should help minimize a lot of initial user problems because of unfamiliarity and should make for a better experience all around for everyone. Also gives one something to do while they await their turn in the queue, but, that's just my opinion.

For those wondering about the pricing, I just checked the store site, actually got the info page up:

$39.95 US for the D/L
and,
an extra $5.14 for D/L (1 time I guess) and for a DVD ROM mailed to you (at extra cost for postage I assume, still very reasonable to my way of thinking)
and,
an extra $3.20 for 12 months of backup D/L service.

File 4 for me now at 18k/sec...will the DVD arrive before my download finishes....one way or another it will arrive. I got guard dogs and threating notes for nobody to get near the computer. Don't want to screw this up and start over again.
Thanks Cazzie for putting the carot out front so we know why we are suffering this great pain of downloading!

I must of missed something...how are you downloading the differnt files at the same time? I have gotten to four at this point and only going at 20K. Do you mean to say I can be downloading 5 6 7 all at the same time...sorry..confused.
