Rise of Flight, anybody?

It's usually a matter of finding someone who's willing to moderate. That, and Ickie needs to get stitched up and on the road to recovery first.

I am just glad to see them listen to their customers and release this update this quickly. With more upcoming.
Far to often a game is released and we are left hanging. Lock on was a example. Blackshark another.
Unlike some games, a sim if updated ,added to, can have very long legs. I have already bought their additional planes and look forward to sceneries, mission packs ect.
I have not had time to do much flying but not having to see those to eagles staring each other down betreen every flight was worth the download.

? hmmmmm ? I was just asking you about your Kindle and how much you like it or not, etc. I'm thinking about getting one.

The new patch.........? The background seems even more blurry to me, much worse than before! Why, I don't know? Everything else I like so far. But I'm sick of having to reset my controller inputs with every patch! Oh well.

Ya, why?! Was in reference to why don't we have a Rise of Flight fourm page yet? S/F

I haven't needed to reset my controller inputs after each patch. My controller inputs are under their own filename using the "Save As" function.

Excuse the interruption folks, Mud, here's the message I tried to send you:

I can easily say that the Kindle is the best thing to come along since sliced bread and boneless ice cream! I got mine in Feb. and it has almost paid for itself already with the savings you get from e-books. There are literally thousands of free books you can download from different websites and transfer to your Kindle from your computer. All the classics are available for free. New releases rarely go over $9.99. I really like G.K. Chesterton and I got all 400 of his books, columns, etc. for just over 3 bucks. That is thousands of pages of material. I got another volume set that would have cost me $154 for only .99 cents. The only thing that is a minor irritation is that when reading history books with detailed maps, with the Kindle 2 it is hard to enlarge them enough to see all the fine detail. The new Kindle DX handles these with no problem with the bigger screen. I also get the Wall Street Journal every morning on it too and a few blogs.

If you really like reading this is the way to go. Battery life is excellent when wireless mode is off. I have gone up to two weeks without having to recharge it. I can't recommend it highly enough.

You can now return to your regularly scheduled posting:wiggle:

Well, that seems like a positive endorsement!:icon_lol: Maybe I'll get lucky for my birthday!?

Some quick observations. Besides the obvious menu changes, additions, the ai is alot different.
In head to head,1 vs 1, I had grown bored with it. A high speed head on pass then into a turning match with the enemy always extending and running away. Then at a distance, usually a right turn into an other turning match until dizzy or bored to death. Repeat...
Now the ai turns are alot closer and aggressive. Rudder stall turns, wing overs and no more long extensions. Now its a real knife fight. I was actually able to place my bullets right on the tail and run them up the fuselage and watched the plane catch fire. Another big plus is there is a small red arrow that points to where the enemy is. Thanks!
Then I tried the ground attack. As I sat there admiring the plane- BOOM.
Plane was demolished. Thought it was a glitch so I tried again. BOOM.
Now if you sit there you are toast. Seems the tanks or ground troops dont like you sitting threre very long. I also noticed some vehicles and life in some of the towns.
I am still over controlling big time but this update gets two big thumbs up.
Next I will attempt another carrer which up to now was nothing but a big frustration.

Yes - I have also used this option after patching yesterday and should no longer need to bother with it after future patches.

and thanks Henry for the update on Ickie - I sure hope he gets through it alright.

After the patch the input file had been reset to default. I selected my saved input filename to restore my saved inputs. My saved input file was not altered by the patch.

Saitek X52/Saitek rudder
Same clunky button setup. Now when I hit a joystick button, say one I set for gun reload the cockit view zooms in. Another one when I hit makes it zoom out. I cannot find any joystick buttons double mapped.

I also had my stick go out of calibration 2x. I was having a really hard time turning. The plane was also abruply jerking up and down with the slightest of stick input. I then noticed the vr pit stick would fall to the right when released.
I exited the game, the calibration prog looked normal and once back in the game, flew good for a few flights then it did it again.
Brand new stick and no problems in FSX.
SOF still has control issues. Just like me :icon_lol:

Vista 64,4870
In my case if I check or add any of SOF's video options,aa/af ect the game crashes on loading.
I have to turn them all off and use a catalyst profile I create.
I still have horizon and some distance jaggies but I am not really bothered by it.

Ok thanks, I just wanted to make sure it was possible. I'm now downloading 2.7 GB from the Aerosoft shop (don't want to wait for the box).
