Roland laborie - vought crusader f8-e msfs

You can't convert the DLLs to XML, unfortunately.

You can use a tool like Alpha Zip to extract the bitmaps for the visuals, though, and write new XML to drive the instruments.

Remodeled, I can't do it, but adapted as best I can see if I get something right.
(Probably Certainely without radar) .
If there's a way to bring your incredible F-8 family to this sim, I will literally lose my mind. :love:

And much as I miss the Foch and Clemenceau moving carriers from P3D, I'll happily fly the F-8 off the Miltech CdG. It's a nice enough French carrier, and it moves, so if the F-8 supports landing (and not rolling backwards off) on a moving carrier, you'll have a winner of a mod.

Thanks for the considering it.

@DennyA
Yes, I know this software, which, apart from recovering bmp, does not allow the conversion of codes.

@Delta lima
I tried to adapt the Clemenceau:
In the fixed version, it supports landings,
in the mobile version it does not support them, although it is the same model.
In addition, I did not manage to add the FLOLS system.

You should try the Fouga Zephyr which should support landing without rolling backward.
I think I may need to adjust the position of the butt to be sure to catch the cables.

I was also a huge fan of the Restauravia F8 back in the FSX/P3D days, so I hope my question will not sound disrespectful to anybody:
Since bringing the old freeware F8 seems very difficult if possible at all, wouldn't it be an acceptable alternative to create a free mod for the payware F8, to try to improve what can be improved ? (performances/flight model and such?)

Nothing disrespectful in your question.
I don't have the paid F8, so I don't know if it's possible.
(and I think it's not Restauravia's philosophy):)

Just for the sake of giving an actual "current status".
I just made a test flight with it, because I wanted to test the aerial refueling (from AirShow Assistant) with it.
The plane looks quite good, especially in the cockpit. However, it still has the following flaws:

1- BY DEFAULT, it's just unflyable, too much nose heavy, unless you're above 400 knots with full trim up. HOWEVER, when selecting the aircraft, you simply have to go to the fuel manager and set the center of gravity in the most backward position that you can set, and THEN the plane will fly nicely :) I still think it lacks manoeuvrability, but that is ok for now and I could at least perform my refuel without loosing control of the plane. I could also land it smoothly.

2- the flight model is not accurate, since it can perform supercruise, for example :/

3- It has an option to show a HUD which I believe is very unrealistic but useful sometimes. The Velocity Vector is not accurate at all, and can barely be used as a vertical velocity indicator, but not more.

4- The sounds are very basic and sound nothing like a fighter jet. If I'm not mistaken, there's not change when you open or close your canopy, and the sound cone is not modelled when you're flying above Mach 1.

5- AirShow Assistant is not aware (yet) about that plane, so you have to set the basket attachement position by yourself using the AirShow Assistant window in the sim. Fortunately it's quite easy to set and I could save it, and then I could successfully attach to the tanker in flight but boy, it's really hard when the probe is not in your field of view :/ . It's extremely rewarding, though, and the plane was docile enough to let me maintain my position easilly during the whole duration of the refuel.

6- The Tacan frequency is adjusted by "normal" frequency and not by Tacan codes, which is a bit of a shame. It's just a VOR2 on which somebody put the "TACAN" label sticker :) Also, I haven't understood anything about how to navigate with these instruments... but I haven't read the manual either, so that explains a lot :p

7- When you switch ON the radar system, it switches ON the HUD but also a little GPS color map below. The brightness of that map cannot be adjusted, it's very bright and very annoying at night.

8- The wing NAV lights are not attached to the wing itself, so when you fold the wings, the lights stay there hanging in the air magically.

That's it. This is quite a big list for such a price tag, which is a shame. I like Roland's A400M quite a lot, but this Crusader could use a few updates...
