SAAB J35 Draken 3.2 released

SOH-CM-2024
Thomas Nilsson has released his SAAB J35 Draken 3.2 final update for FS2004 on Bookmark Flightsim:

http://flightsim.bookmark.se/

I just took the Draken up for a short 1st flight and I must say this is a real gem! The comprehensive online manual perfectly talks you through procedures like powering up the systems and starting the engine.

IMHO the Draken belongs in the same premier league as the Rollus Mirage 2000-F5 or Ivan Jurcaga's MiG21-F13. Unbelievable quality planes like this come as freeware!

:applause::applause::applause:

I'm not normally a fan of go-fasts, but I've always thought this aircraft had character. Downloading now!

Dowloading right now for a test with FSX Acceleration. Thanks for the info !! :ernae:

EDIT: Ok, the effects coordinates need to be corrected, and I must read the manual because for some reason the flight controls work only in 2D view or in external view, in virtual cockpit mode only the throttle responds :p

EDIT2: ah, unlike the previous version, the author says that this one WILL NOT work in FSX, and a payware version for FSX is on the way. Too bad, one bird out of my hangar :'(

Such a lovely plane, though...

One note - there's a folder that goes into the main gauges folder (or in the panel folder if you like it that way). Don't try to compress it into a cab file or you'll get no-load errors on a couple of the gauges. And without flaps, be ready for a screaming approach!

Nice find! This is indeed the best evolvement of Thomas Nilsson's series. Got the majority of the systems up and running, enough to get her flying properly.

20 shots from my flight around Angelholm AB tonight ...

Cheers! Mike :ernae:

Nice Shots, Flyboy...

Aside from being beautifully created for FS9 by Thomas Nilsson and his team, this model represents one of the most sinister looking warjets of all time. The side profile shots are especially nice.

Time to park version 3.1 for now. Off to grab 3.2 :running:

An amazing aircraft.

From the manual;

  1. When the engine speed is >30 % and stable, press and hold the alternator switch for at least 2 seconds to connect the AC bus. All warning lights on the Annunciator Panel as well as the Master Warning light should now be unlit.

That will connect to the AC Bus and should unlock the attitude indicator.

A couple of questions for Flyboy. Where did you yet the Angelholm AB scenery please, and where did those nice skies come from in those screenies?

D, it may help to switch tooltips on. Proper positioning of your mouse hand is of the essence, it has to be over the topside of the alternator switch. When tooltip says Alternator ON (Press and hold for 2 sec) you can push the switch for 2 seconds and your gauges will get power.

Odd... I get the alternator running, and the O2 from the VC, but the Master Warning light still blinks even though all the annunciators are out. Haven't figured that one little issue yet.

I like having this level of realism in an FS9 aircraft, especially a military Jet.

Sometimes though, I just wish I could get in and go flying. I wonder if someone will come up with a config entry to have it up and running, like the fix we had with the recent freeware MiG-21.
