Another um... interesting Mac web site:
TUAW -- The Unofficial Apple Weblog
www.tuaw.com
I have my brother's older Macbook Air after he upgraded, passed his old one to our Dad, upgraded again, gave his other old one to Pop, and I grabbed the extra. It's running Ubuntu 8.10 right now but I have the original Leopard hard drive and Snow Leopard on CD.
If you want an OS that "just works" OS X is a pretty good choice. I like to tinker so of course Linux was the path to the dark side for me.
My bro was pretty competent with Windows but simply "got tired of the fooling around with Windows when he had work to do". Aside from gaming on my Windows systems I kind of have to agree with him.
Interestingly, you'll see a lot of Netbooks getting Windows replaced with Mac OS. My Netbooks are mostly Linux too, but you never know if there might be a "Hackintosh" in the future for one of them.
Its not as much fun for me to mess with Mac OS as it is to monkey around with Linux, but I was sold right away on the Macbook functionality and the logic and common sense of the user interface. Once you get used to it you'll start comparing it to everything else you use. And they're quite fast. ;-)
Hope you enjoy exploring your new world.
