• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

I finally broke down and got myself a Mac. I went with a 13" Macbook Pro. I was going to get the 15", but decided that the smaller one would do just fine, and with the money I saved I got Missus rayrey10 an iPad....that should keep me out of the dog house through the new year, at least :bump:

Well gotta run...have to figure out what that pretzel looking button does :d

You're welcome, Rayrey...

I want to give you a heads up,
They are not as friendly as we are here..

:running::running:

Yeah I've figured out the hard way...more than once...that the Outhouse is the friendliest place on the net. Even when I took a break from simming I still visited SOH cuz it is the best place to hang out that doesn't require a designated driver. :bump:

The command key is a short cut key and does a lot of stuff...
If you hold command key with M, you will minimize your current window...

Very cool...
I am still learning everyday...

...AND Yes...
We are ONE of the friendliest Site on the planet so far....

I've often contemplated going to the Apple side, but I always end up changing my mind.....maybe one day I'll take the plunge.

Two thumbs up on your purchase Ray! I'm sure your wife will love the iPad. I know I do!!!!

Another um... interesting Mac web site:

I have my brother's older Macbook Air after he upgraded, passed his old one to our Dad, upgraded again, gave his other old one to Pop, and I grabbed the extra. It's running Ubuntu 8.10 right now but I have the original Leopard hard drive and Snow Leopard on CD.

If you want an OS that "just works" OS X is a pretty good choice. I like to tinker so of course Linux was the path to the dark side for me.

My bro was pretty competent with Windows but simply "got tired of the fooling around with Windows when he had work to do". Aside from gaming on my Windows systems I kind of have to agree with him.

Interestingly, you'll see a lot of Netbooks getting Windows replaced with Mac OS. My Netbooks are mostly Linux too, but you never know if there might be a "Hackintosh" in the future for one of them.

Its not as much fun for me to mess with Mac OS as it is to monkey around with Linux, but I was sold right away on the Macbook functionality and the logic and common sense of the user interface. Once you get used to it you'll start comparing it to everything else you use. And they're quite fast. ;-)

Hope you enjoy exploring your new world.
