Saunders-Roe (SaRo) flying boats?

Welcome back! I figured you'd either left the hobby or moved on like so many others to newer sims.
Well I never really "left" the hobby (this stuff gets in your blood), always meant to get back to it.

My 2 good FS computers died during their long sleep, but after spending an entire weekend up to my elbows in old PATA drives, I managed to salvage my main FS9 install, along with GW3, Silverwings, and a few other "custom installs" (FSWWII, "Fast Movers" (jet fighters), and "Wing World" (flying wings, etc.)) that were all lucky enough to live off the main FS drive RAID arrays. The RAID0 arrays, as well as everything on them (FSX, FS2002, FS2000, FS98, GW, CFS1, CFS2), "went away" when the motherboards died, leaving me with SATA drives full of unsalvagable digital garbage.

No more hardware based RAID for me! I'll stick with regular backups, no need for RAID0 to speed things up anymore.

I've got 2 new Win11 simming computers, a tower with an I5, 16GB RAM, GeForce 4060 with 8GB ram, and a 1TB ssd
along with a mini PC with a Ryzen 9 6950H, 32GB RAM, Radeon 680M, and a 2TB ssd
both hooked to a widescreen monitor thru a KVM switch.

I'm still trying to kludge together something (virtual machine? old PC?) to run FS98, I can get it installed on Windows 11, but it don't run.

And now I've got 10 years+ of "new to me" stuff to go thru, download, & install.....

I went through something like that when my second to last confutor died. It took me a couple years to get around to rebuilding my FS9 installations. After that I started making regular backups of my primary drive, FS drive and Hangar drives, so if I had another crash I wouldn't lose anything more than the most recent week or so's work. It paid off when my last rig died and I could re-establish everything quickly and easily.

One thing I did differently was to steer clear of Win11. I test drove it on a friend's rig while I was without my own and I hated it, as well as finding out that much of my stuff wouldn't work in it. So I found a clean copy of Win10 and added a virtual machine that should run anything my old XP and Win7pro rigs ran. (Still haven't got that quite right yet though.)

Anyway, I continue to crank out projects with David, fiddle with scenery, paint models, and do everything but fly - no time for that!

Its not just me then--- no luck with jet's im afraid, the closest your going to get is this from flightsim

FS2004 Saunders-Roe SR45. The beautiful Saunders-Roe SR45 Princess was to be a post-WWII long-range flying boat. Alas, evolving technology (and bureaucratic bungling) kept it from being successful. This version was built with Gmax. Sound, non-default gauges and startup files are included. By Dennis Simanaitis. (See also PRINCORX.ZIP)

There's only 3 Saro models available for FS9; the aforementioned Princess, the SR-A1 and Cloud, as someone who walked past the Princess on the way to school every day would love to see more Saro designs. Oh, and a Supermarine Southampton...
