SB2U-1 and -3 Vindicators.zip

New panel for SB2U-3

Fibber

Normally you’re right about .dps. Most aircraft don’t have breaking parts. It is a lot of work to cut the model apart and get all of the parts linked right in the hierarchy. Because a lot of the “new” CFS2 aircraft are FS2004 converts you need to remove the BREAK #s as they were not made with breaking part logic as it is not need in FS2004.

You can use the checklist ingame by pressing “C” The checklist is programmed like all the stock aircraft have.

I knew every one would ask what I did as the SB2U-3 would be very heavy and hard to takeoff fully loaded. I even asked my self what I had did to it for a while too.

Looks good. You can send me the panel once you get permission and I'll add it to the main download.

Hi Allen
here is the new panel

I fact, the gauge I tweaked to make the SB2U-3 compass was an old gauge from Max Rootveld, previously tweaked by Stuart Green for is Arado 196 sea plane. I used this SG gauge basis to create the new one.
I tried to join Max Rootveld by mail, but I got no response

Read the readme files I wrote before in the main download.

I hope you decide to add this new panel to the SB2U-3 main file
Cheers

Try it again and I'll update the main download and add it to the much nicer to fly Pre-War SB2U-1 as well that I haven't uploaded yet.

I see you already fix it...

EDIT:

I edited the 2d and VC panel so the SB2U3 compass no longer is over the raise part of the panel I also re-did some of the f4f4_wildcat_nb.gau so they are no longer is over the raise part of the panels as well. This also ment I could remove the "Cover" panel as well.

French Naval Aviation ordered 40 "Vindicator" to equip two fleets of bombers of the AB1 and AB2. They were engaged with Nieuports 410 and 411 of AB2 and Ab4 in several operations during the campaign of France:
Holland as support of the French division committed on the island of Walcheren Potez 631 escorted by naval aviation with some success.
panzer divisions against them with heavy losses (fault protection by the RAF Hurricanes and power of FLAK)
operations in the desperate defense of Dunkirk reduced from Cherbourg
in attacks against the Italian ports of the Ligurian coast (Operation Vado)
*pics here*

I redid the DP for this version but the problem Vought 156F did not start ventral bomb. I removed it by an alpha mask but this is not the solution. It should be deleted in the model.
Congratulations to the authors of this excellent model.

The texture look fine. A alpha mask is fine. You should use the SB2U-1 I uploaded when it is approved. SB2U-1, SB2U-2 and Vought 156F were almost identical in over all performance. The SB2U-3 is very heavy and is not close to the SB2U-1, SB2U-2 and Vought 156F performance.

SB2U-3 performance is close to the British V156-B1 Chesapeake. The British V156-B1 were heavier than the SB2U-3 and needed 1,700 feet to take off.

SB2U-1 is much more friendly to fly to from carrers and friendly to fly over all than the very heavy SB2U-3. Same Pre-War paint as Paul Clawson had on his SB2U.

Optional damage profile that uses Dbolt's Weapons. Skin template is included in the textue folder for your painting pleasure. You will need a program that can read .PSD to use it.

The V156-B1 British were the result of the second order for 100 aircraft for the Navy. Therefore I expect SBU2-1 version to download my textures French.
I enclose two textures of the aircraft No. 9 ABI Cuers in June 1940, I published that corresponded to former Vindicator (thank you for the English translation)

Both of the SB2U use the same model (.mdl). Texutes are interchangeable.

UncleTgt and gaucho_59

The Textures look good. Gaucho_59, panel needs to lose the gun site as a compass go were it is. There are some pics of the panel in the panel folder. I would be interested I can provide my originals. If it could be made into a usable template it would be very good. I'm not the best texure maker but I try to make the texture simple so that any one can make there own if they wish. This is why I also make templates for my aircraft.

I also fixed the left side pilot canopy area. At times you can see a dark area (pic below). It looks like a ploy had its norm flip thus the lighting was not the same as the rest of the aircraft.

I just started downloading everything. Looks great...I'll get this installed this evening and get some flight time. Thanks, Allen!

Testing my paint jobs... I have not tried the fix for that spot on the left outside of the pilot's cockpit yet...
Is there any way to detail the inside of the flaps...they show white (kinda disruptive look)
Still need to work on the engine painting (figure out how to mold it to the present mapping so it looks more realistic)...
I think the ribbing effect on the doped fabric areas of the fuselage and wings more realistic now....

GEE..........

.......WHO KNEW?! From a little prop to a whole new plane, and I love it!!!!!!!!!!! Allen, BTW 50% fuel in tanks, 25% flaps and the gooney bird eats the real estate but does get it up into the air!
I did find some pages from the original flight manual on line but my IP burped and I lost them. It dealt with take-off, landing and diving settings. Also included some labeled panel pictures. Do you already have them, or the book? If not I will see if I can refind them.

BTW GREAT bird!!!!!!!!:applause:

gaucho_59

The flaps are mapped to the lower wing. Maybe I should have mapped the flaps to have there own textue.

Fibber
I have nothing that covers takeoff and landing for the bird.
