Lagaffe, as you are focused on the Commemorative Air Force's SBD-5 Dauntless, there is also this great video that delves into the history of that particular aircraft.

For decades, it was thought to have been a USAAF A-24B Banshee, 42-54532, but in the early 2000s, through some good research, the CAF Dixie Wing discovered it was actually in-fact Navy SBD-5 Bureau No. 54532 (note the numbers being the same) - the mix-up stemming from a simple paperwork error when the aircraft was sold surplus after WWII. Really fine photos in detail lagaffe. I sure wish I had those when I was constructing my Dauntless. I used the Detail & Scale book. Bert and I are fellow Hokies, we both went to Virginia Tech at the same time.

For quite some time I have been thinking about the next project I would like to do.

In 2013, I had found on the web Witold Jaworski’s work concerning computer modeling. For several years he detailed the design of several aircraft : P-40 and Lavochkin-5 and notably an SBD Dauntless: https://blenderartists.org/t/sbd-dauntless-us-navy-dive-bomber/641592.

During these years he also published several books (PDF) that include all this work in a didactic way, "books" that I bought of course to improve my way of modeling on Blender: https://airplanes3d.net/index_e.html. These are excellent bedside books

All these years, I have gathered a large number of documents on these planes (avialogs.com), but if you have any, I would be very happy to be able to consult other photos or books.

Naturally, I had thought one day with his agreement of course, to create an interior for this plane, what do you think, are you interested by this kind of aircraft in simulation?

Sorry for not following the post too much these days but FS20 & 24 have caused me problems since the beginning of the week.
To relax, I decided to start switching my PC/laptop from Win10 to Win11 and first of all to switch the disks from my PC/laptop to GPT and then migrate them to Win11.
My two PCs being now in GPT (quick operation but not very easy), I decided to reinstall FS20 & FS 24 cleanly on the same SSD: they worked well and the next day the trouble returned.
I was still forced to repair, then reset and even reinstall the XBox and Store applications several times without forgetting the Game Service (very important) and then this morning: it came back ... anyway, I’m crossing my fingers to hope for more luck from today

@Bomber_12th, I just finish to read your PDF: very interesting document that will be store in my documentation folder for this aircraft!

Count me as very interested. My local museum has restored quite a few of them pulled out of Lake Michigan over the years.
