JanKees - Quote - " jk8691 -but although it was fun, P3D took over 15 minutes to get started, and after 20 minutes it smothered my graphic card and crashed, and I have to say, MSFS looks a lot better. It's just such a boring collection of aircraft..."

FWIW I finally upgraded to a new Desktop PC with an NVDIA RTX2070 Super (8GB) with an Intel I5-10500 (6core) 16GB Ram (plus SSDs) MSI Motherboard etc and I found that I have no problems with this hardware arrangement or Win10. I can run P3DV5 at full sliders for graphics, EA etc activated and it is all smooth as silk and changing anything like from one part of the globe to the other side etc is amazingly quick on the reload. I have some of the shading issues etc. Start up to ready to run to the P3D menu takes about 30 secs and full load to screen takes probably about 30 secs as well. Only Sim Director takes a few minutes but I guess it is finding everything models scenery etc that you may want to use.

MSFS2020 will never happen for me - I like P3DV5 but the killer is I live in country OZ no cable no copper only a mobile donger and It would take a week to download MS sim so it ain't going to happen, took me 6 hours to download P3D. I have to have a standalone sim. Besides I really like P3D they have done an amazing job really I think their adoption of a lot of graphic stuff etc and the xml HTML approach to functionality is a winner!

Oh and all your paints on a variety of stuff come up really well too - so thanks for all your contributions - appreciated and kept.

And another olden gold one from the master builder JBK, the Hythe Converted back into a Sunderland. It is a WIP a collaborative effort to convert these, so WIP release possible later on. A credit to all involved.

P3DV5 with ORBX Global/Vector - Shannon Ireland.

I think JENs would be pleased to know these old birds will make it across the void into the new sim world! A fitting tribute to a master builder who did so much great stuff, one by one we will get them here!

Still getting to know the sim- Stock vehicle - Carenado Commander 114 - off the coast of the Shetland Islands with FSWX providing the real time weather BKN 2600 ft hazy and light winds. Container ship thanks to Global Ship Traffic AI.

Think I will need to turn down the reflections on the water. I am happy with the sky and clouds and real vis restrictions due to hz and lack of light. Seems realistic to me.

TAA's 2nd B727 parked at Boeing Field Seattle Washington.

Obvious LM are not making any effort with anything connected with Boeing. This default scenery is pretty ordinary, not even ORBX fixed it up a little.

Hard to believe that it was 56 years ago these amazing aeroplanes began rolling off the line and it was not until last year that the last commercial passenger flight by Iran Aseman Airlines marked the end of an era. VH-TJA had a colourful life having been involved in a take off collision with a taxying CP DC-8 at Sydney one night, repaired, went to Continental Airlines then Air Florida before being scrapped at Mojave in 1994.

And these screens to show how damn good this sim really is:

The brilliant Global Ship AI always surprises.

A freeware scenery package of Tahiti that comes up well.

And into the sun early morning - just like it is as I remember it doing maritime patrol. EA and True Sky works for me!

Nice screens Noddy - some real gems there! Whose is the Skyhawk? I have not tried putting any back into P3DV5 I was hoping for a Razbam update. Damn that man at RealAir did some fine work!
The F14 some reckon it still outperforms the one in all replacement above, faster more payload weapons choice etc etc, proving like the F111 a swing wing works just fine to manage speed range in big aeroplanes.
