Enjoyed the day off from work due to a good sized snow storm moving in this afternoon, so I was able to do some flying around the Twin Cities this morning in one of my favorite MSFS purchases. (In reality, we're no where near having ice/snow covered lakes and rivers here, though some ponds have begun to freeze over.)

So, the journey of the DC-6 continues. Finally decided for a slightly longer trip over the ocean without VOR support. Palma de Mallorco to Madeira, starting at night and flying through the sunrise.
Took me almost 6h in total, without AFE, everything by the books. But I finally looked up how the fuel crossfeed actually works and could directly apply my newfound knowledge. Approach at Madeira 05 is quite interesting, but coming in slow it was very manageable.
Ibiza ahead, still very dark. Red light actually helps a lot with the night vision.
Sunrise announces itself over Spain.
And while I reached the ocean, the sun finally showed itself over the northern African mountains.
Approaching LPMA, lots of flaps to maintain speed and give me more time to prepare for the manual turn back to the runway.
Quick snap while handflying the final approach. Interesting airport indeed.
