I noticed the landing 'floating' effect too. Went most of the length of a 1,000' runway holding the approach level out height.
I wonder how they get them into, say, a 400' strip, if it floats in real life.

Being a STOL bird, it probably likes to be pretty slow at touchdown. Coming in at a larger airport, I'll probably keep the flaps limited to the second notch to reduce that. For short fields, I'm gonna need practice getting it to just above stall speed and keeping it there. BUt TFFJ is a whole different ballgame. Coming in over that hill means you have to drop in at the last second, which in turn means you just picked up some unwanted airspeed. Another option might be to come in from a higher angle and maintain a nose-level attitude, giving you a higher angle of attack, and once again teetering on the edge of stalling. I need more practice...

Something different from my side today. Took a short trip around Hahnweide, the airport where one of the biggest oldtimer airshows on the european mainland happens every 2-3 years usually. I've been there 4 times IIRC, always camping on the grounds from Friday to Sunday. So as soon as I saw the new scenery of the airport at flightsim.to I had to check it out. It is beatifully done. It does represent the airport in the non-airshow form, which means it is basically a glider only field with a 600m main runway.

As I've seen and heard the old Junkers flying out of there more times than I can remember, I had to cheat a little and take that thing out there (I guess that's way beyond the normal operation limits of the airport). That one year they had 6 of these crates taking off in tight sequence and than forming a formation.

That's truly a gift! Own this in P3D (also with Air Show addon) and even in P3D it is a gem. Compliment to the author, it looks superb.

Here are a few screenshots of Rob's Seafire 47, with a repaint by Jankees depicting the restored Seafire 47 VP441 (N47SF). The screenshots were taken flying out of and around Crystal Lakes Resort Airport, in Montana, which is home to James Smith's warbird collection, known as the Stonehenge Air Museum, which includes Seafire 47 VP441. Although maintained in airworthy condition, the Seafire is no longer flown (Mr. Smith has retired himself from flying it and the majority of his other warbirds). The airport is surrounded by a golf course, which includes a full size replica Stonehenge.

I like these Seafire shots, somehow I always have the feeling my paints look better in your sims than they do in mine, especially when John does the screenshots..

Before:

Currently over the Atlantic Ocean, 73Nm from Flores, Azores. Heading for Gander to complete my first flight simulator crossing of the pond. Engines humming nicely but I have a 68kt headwind, meaning I will not get a lot of sleep before I have get up for the last day of work this year. Kind of impulsive to fly anyway and I learned about the wind when the sim was already set up. Fuel calculations look good though, currently emptying the alternative tanks.
