After a long hiatus, I finally have another repaint for the Mk.IX Spitfire just about completed (just putting some final tweaks to the non-slip wing surfaces). I wish it didn't take so long/so much effort to remake the camouflage every time, but each one is purely unique and accurate as a result. All of the markings, including the roundels, code letters and stencils are uniquely drawn to match this specific aircraft/restoration as well. The real-life restored SM520 (G-ILDA), which this repaint portrays, is actually a two-seat trainer T.9 Spitfire, with a Mk.IX style paint scheme adapted to the T.9 modified fuselage. In reproducing the paint scheme, I had to slightly "re-adapt" it to the stock fuselage, while trying to keep as much of it as possible the same. This specific depiction is as the aircraft looked this past year. Some details, such as the sponsorship logos, were different in the years prior. The rudder and elevators were also re-covered midway through 2018, and you can see in photos that they aren't painted the exact same as they had been prior to that time (they also had stenciling prior to the recovering in 2018, which they don't have now).

Beautiful paint John! (and shots!) Where is that interesting island with lighthouse/helipad?

Here's two of the recent freeware Discus release

These guys have really improved their planes on all fronts.

And I snuck in a nice rendition of the Olive Ann Beech paint

Thank you Ryan and Jankees! Ryan, the scenery in that screenshot you asked about is called "The Needles", located off the coast of the Isle of Wight. It must be an addon available at Flightsim.to.

My repaint of SM520 is now available on Flightsim.to. Here are a few more screenshots I took while doing some final testing this morning. In addition to typically being based at Goodwood Aerodrome, it also has spent time at other locations such as Duxford and Headcorn.

Those familiar with Duxford (especially following real world photographers) will know exactly where this spot is, and just how common there is a Spitfire or other warbird parked in this location...

Thank you, LP!

I took a ton of screenshots yesterday, prior to releasing the repaint, and here are a few more that didn't pass muster the first time, but that I still rather liked.
