I bought that years ago, it is rather a nice model. Coincidentally I've actually just downloaded it from Flight1 to reinstall, it'll fit very nicely into the wonderful Middle East sceneries to which we are being treated.

This should already be included if you have EditVoicePack and the basic updates installed, if not just install it using EVP.

Change the atc_model= line in the [GENERAL] section to

atc_model=SHACKLETON

:geek:

UPDATE, it also doesn't work.. I'll repost it if I can fix it.

Time for an OOPS, and its my fault. :indecisiveness:
That EVP SHACKLETON mod doesn't work. EVP plays it. its a little scratchy but it does play. Also, no "red type" warnings in EVP as its an included EVP mod (no installs needed).
Weird, I'll take a look at it and try to clean it up. No idea (yet) why FS isn't picking it up. :dizzy:
 
The Shackleton was released as payware, to raise funds for the sole air worthy (but will not fly again) Shackleton based at Air Force Base Ysterplaat in Cape Town.

On certain weekends, it is taken out of her hanger and started up. Something really special to see and hear.
We had actually built a Shackleton simulator, using actual seats, pedals and throttle quadrant, as well as the actual cockpit glass.
We obviously used the above software with Aeroworx freeware South African scenery, using a projector for the scenery and a screen for the panel.

Much fun was had calibrating all 4 throttles and mix.
 
Robin, I believe it was you who originally gave me this shackelton (was a while ago) and i know not that long ago you had a hard drive failure and lost everything? So happy to return the favour ;)

Yet another computer issue.. A couple of weeks ago, my laptpot went belly up on me.. Probably a component issue, or power supply.
I'm just waiting to hear from the technician..

awww… thats awefull…

I’ve experienced kinda something similar this Summer as when it was hot as hell (104 Degrees Fahrenheit).
Then out of nothing. my computers Battery didn’t want to load anylonger… and lost Power… didn’t knew that this could happen to batteries when it is that hot… but i was thaught the better… so i don’t startup my Laptop anymore in such hot temperatures…

I mostly wait for colder temperatures and have unplugged the power supply cable from my laptop and plugged it in again… now it is loading the battery again… luckily.. as it would be a pitty if the battery goes dead and the laptop then won’t startup again.
 
Is rather out of topic, but running a flight simulator on a laptop is a bit of a tricky business. The major issue is the weak performance of the power supplies. Two laptops gave up the ghost because of this, even though they were high-end units.

Now, FS9 runs on a desktop PC that I can access remotely using one of my previous laptops and RustDesk. This way, the better-equipped desktop handles the heavy lifting. And it works fine and I'm independated regarding using location.

My laptop has a 180w power supply /charger, and builtin AMD graphics as well as a separate builtin Nvidia GPU, so it is switchable to choose which to use for any application.
OH well, I'm waiting for a quotation to repair the thing. Could be either a fault power supply or something on the motherboard.

It's winter here in Cape Town, so not really a heat issue. I've always used the laptop plugged in, and have always monitored the charge level.
I'm sure it is a power issue of sorts.
I was writing an email, the laptop had been on for a few hours, with nothing intense running, when it just shut off. I switched it on again and the power & indicator lights flashed, and that was it.
