• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Currently 'off air' due to no antennas erected and not well enough to put them up anymore.
 
Yep, congrats Roger.
I grew up surrounded by rigs and wires and so many QSL cards that I felt guilty for not pursuing the hobby.
Dad was VE4AF (1933--yep, #6 licensed in western Canada before they split the prairie prov. calls into 3 parts) , then VE2OJ, then VE7DFY (now a silent key). It kept him happy and busy for over 60 years. May it give you the same pleasure!

Most decent-sized communities have one, or more, clubs or informal groups. Like the Flight Sim world the members are happy to help each other and 'newbies'. Whether it's coaching/tutoring for the tests or equipment purchase & setup you'll find someone that can guide you through the steps.

If no one here can point you directly (or offers themself) go to the Amateur Radio Relay League website http://www.arrl.org/ and search their club listings.
