ps. And for the above post w/ all that AI. Try using AISmooth, it'll fix this AI cue bug...(which looks cool, but not if you are in 9th position to take off...hehe)

It's 1 AI package at 100%. I like the realism it gives.
Thanks for the advice though

Just eye dropping gents! :ernae:

Jan, is that the AlphaSim Liberator?

That is one on my to "get" list too for FS9 and FSX. Reason being, one of my HS classmates had an uncle, Ranson Fredricks, that flew this Lib and was lost in a bombing raid over Germany.

I want to do a repaint in his honor. He was a native Caswell County, NC gent. And his son Gale of Roxboro, NC, nephew Richmond (Ricky) Fredricks, and two nieces Diane Fredricks and Joyce Fredricks Oates, would be proud of a rendition.

Salute.

Yes, the alpha B-24 for FSX. If you need help with your repaint..well you know where to find me.

Good to see Nip Nocker coming along too!

Don't really count as a Panther as it didn't trigger a crash, but it was a pretty spectacular landing.. :d

You, Willy, see the glass as half full. :d

Landing the Gee Bee is an art unto itself. Makes the Me-109 pilots look like 'girlie men', as Arnould Schwartznegger would say. Its a 'mans mans plane'!

cool to that my repaint is still being flown...as posted by Mr. Cook...

yessir, one of my favorite puddle-jumpers!

Then it's moved to the front burner of the must haves. I am hoping that Ricky and Gale can provide me with some reference photos, albeit black & white. If you know of any pin-up stickers suitable for a repaint of this late bird, that would be appreciated. I can handle fonts. If Ricky and Gale can provide me a good 2-d B & W, I can work up the pin-up on color. So fat my search for reference has turned up nil save for the photo I showed.

The tail markings were distinctive for the 458th Bomber Squadron, "Lily Marlene" was code J-3 with a red "D" in the white tail stripes.

and it had serial 42-50907? I've found conflicting info what happened to it:
- it collided with 42-51241 over Stamford, England Mar 31, 1945. I also have this plane salvaged after crashing on a non-operational cross-country flight Sep 9, 1944. (http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/1942_3.html & http://www.warbird-central.com/american/bombers/B-24/B-24_serials_1942.html)
- it crashed during a night mission (http://www.458bg.com/crewaa02frederick.htm)
- crash landing (http://www.aviationarchaeology.com/src/AARmonthly/Sep1944O.htm)

the pic you have is the only one I could locate (http://www.b24bestweb.com/lilymarlene.htm)

good luck with the painting! If you start, please note there are a few errors in the paintkit: the mean errors are that it has a datablock and fire extinguisher on both sides, which isn't correct.

I can definitely tell you in was NOT March 31, 1945, you can write that off as hokum. Ranson was killed on a training mission on Sept, 9, 1944 after 5 successful bombing missions over Germany.

Thanks for the information and links Jan, will come in most handy, :applause:

Some really amazing screenshots! It really made me wonder whether we have FS9/FSX just to take screenshot or to "fly". :costumes:

Although I take a lot of screenshots, I don't keep any. So I had to pick some which were still in my Photobucket album. I must like old aircrafts and dark skies ;)

My first two FS2004 screen shots...not the best in the world as the sim is a new install and totally stock other than a good assortment of planes added in with more to be added in.

The first screenshot is of Lionheart's freeware Fairchild 24W Bubble Cowl..which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever made. I have it converted to CFS2, but the air file is from the Zero so I could not really enjoy the plane the way it should be enjoyed.

The following screenshot is of the Vultee V-1, a plane that I have been wanting to fly for OH SO LONG...but the only CFS2 version of the plane is very rough and dated. I have tried to convert this one to CFS2, but the installer package would not run as I did not have FS2004. Now I do and can enjoy the stunning looks of this plane. The airport in the background is the Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport in Mansfield Ohio. Tomorrow my wife and I will be spending the afternoon and evening at her sister Dee's house for a third day of Christmas...and from the drive way I can see the hangars and buildings....this is my default airport in FS04.
