Hi, WomenFly2
There'll be some last corrections, like were the side painted angle joins with the fuselage top bit, and then I'll mail it to you (hope it's not too big?)
Cheers; Olham

PS: a last question - who are you gonna fight in this "dress" ? (you said, you're flying for the "dark side", but with these signs, you could only fly with the Allies, I think...)

Here's the one I made for online flying with The Boys of 60's last year. Unfortunately I can't find where I saved this skin so I'm unable to use it in game for now. I would enjoy to see it in my upgraded display settings but I have to content myself with those old screenshots.

I really like the golden canopy.

I'll use this thread to show you my desktop background image for OFF, I made it when I was learning to use Photoshop to be able to create my skin.
Almost every image in it come from this forum.

I believe that when Phase 3 is released, there may be screen savers made available for you to download.

They are:

Over Flanders Fields - 'Between Heaven and Hell'
US aircraft
RFC and RNAS aircraft
French aircraft
German aircraft

The screen savers are collections of screen shots made during beta testing and are self-installing and presented with many and varied transition effects between the various screen shots.

All part of the service :jump:

WF2: "Now every dogfight will end on a high note."

Olham: "Beware, it's not your own screaming!" (Heard a scream, when I just shot down an S.E.5a from very close, and then the pilot fell out - or did he jump?)

WF2: "... if its in front of me, it get shot!"

Olham: "Jesus! I thought, you were dangerous... Well, that way, you don't even need to have your glasses on. Perhaps, your Major should have told you, that it's not simply kills, that count, but ENEMY kills..." (lol)

Cheers; Olham

PS: God, it's so much fun 'round here, joking, laughing - I hope they don't close this board, when P3 is out ?!

Hey guys. Cant seem to figure out how to make my skin appear in the Campaign Squadron Skin dropdown menu:redf:. Can you lend me a hand in solving this? Thanks again

-Rooster

Rename your skin with the exact same name of the squadron skin, but back up the original first!
Cheers,
shredward

Ahh. That makes so much sense that it might just work! Thanks Shredward.

That would be fantastic Sandbagger! I look forward to it! :applause:

Hi, Rooster
I save the Skin with the original name plus "Olham" or whatever. Then I choose the pilot for the campaign; then I change the skin in the first menue, before you go to "Campaign" even, but were you can choose a skin for your plane. It will remain chosen, when you then enter "Campaign".
Cheers; Olham

Thanks once again Olham. Your help in this has been greatly appreciated.

It may not apply for all programs CJ, but with mine, I just change the transparency levels of the color Im overpainting with.

CJ there are some great tutorials at this site:

http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/

I just started playing around with skins and found that site to be very good. Have not tried skinning in CFS3 or OFF yet, but did manage my first skin in IL-2.

Hope I Helped,

John

Hi all,
Regards covering detail/weathering when you change an existing OFF skin:

When the skins are created for OFF, they have many layers built up on top of a baseline template. This baseline has the basic textures applied. As each layer is created the stack of layers increases. Some of these skins have 30 or more layers added.

Once the complete aircraft is finished, the layered file is saved as a 'merged bitmap', that is all of the separate layers merge into one template bitmap. Its this bitmap which is converted into DDS format (skin) for in-game use.

As such, if you convert an OFF DDS skin file (back into bitmap format) for working in Adobe PhotoShop or Corel's Paint Shop Pro, you'll start with a single layered bitmap. When you then apply further layers, those layers can cover the original detal/weathering of the baseline layer.

Detail can be redrawn on top of your new layers to replicate the covered detail. However, the covered weathering is more difficult to replicate. The best you can do is to play around with colours and experiment with the various paint tools (spray etc). By adjusting the transparency and strength of the weathering layer, you should be able to replicate those areas you've covered up.

Here is my new all blue Dr.1. Now that Im done doing it....Im actually sick of blue, lol.
