Sim Update 2 is live

Yep, and it already broke my install this morning. Could not, would not, launch the sim. Starting over. Be sure to backup your Community folder.
 
Important enough to make a sticky out of it.

My update was so quick and painless I had to Alt-Enter into windowed mode to check the version number in the top left corner!
 
When selecting a runway from a map the sim loads the airport very much faster:). The selected runway number appears correctly on the page.
However, the sim only allows taking off from one runway despite the one selected. I've tried 3 airports some with multiple runways and each allows taking off at only one.(n)
 
Install & startup went smooth and easy.

First place I headed was My Library to see if anything happened there with all my DNCA aircraft. Found that 22 had the DNCA label now changed to just Disabled or Unverified. I went directly to one of the now just Disabled aircraft that hasn't been compatible from day one. Loaded it up on an airport and not to my surprise it still isn't compatible. I think they just batch took off the DNCA label without any testing or verification. It's even pretty stupid or them to change just some of them from DNCA to Unverified. It looks like they aren't verifying anything in the library to make sure compatibility.

Timings again w/Fiber communications:
From starting the sim to the START button : 2' 35" compared to 5.75' at 2024 release.
From START button to MENU: Maybe 1-2"
From Menu to Free Flight : Maybe 1-2"
From Free Flight to Airport map display showing starting/parking spots: 3"
Starting spots to Ready to Fly: 30"
Really impressed with the new load times.

Would like to know if anyone is having my experience of being able to fly from only one Runway at an airport.

No problems here. Check if you have "ATC enforce flight plan" enabled (Assistances -> Realism -> ATC enforce flight plan). To quote from the sim.
"if disabled, ATC will decide the active runway and approach depending on current conditions, including weather and performance".
 
Just finished a couple of flights, C&D to C&D. Just what little I've seen with SU2 so far has been a step forward.

I was interested in seeing if the default ATC had gotten any better. It certainly works much better than what we started with. Enough so that for now, I'll sideline BeyondATC. I'll see how it works on more flights over the weekend.

MSMP Aircraft:
I now have only one aircraft still listed as DNCA and one aircraft not labeled DNCA but definitely not compatible. I've started testing all the newly delisted DNCA aircraft to see how they are.

MSMP Scenery:
I now have only one airport still listed as DNCA. Testing the newly delisted airports as I run into them while flying around. So far, I've run into one that doesn't show at all and one with all the building structures not there.

Seeing some sort of progress with the MSMP is a big plus. But it still won't convince me to buy anything through the MSMP. Too poorly managed.

SU3 beta has already started. You can now download the sim instead of streaming. With all of my Marketplace stuff and the base sim, got a bit over 500GB downloading overnight. :)

Thanks for your comment concerning ATC enforce flight plan. Mine is turned off, so that is not my problem.

I'll chalk up the problem as unique to me, as have many other problems in the past.
 
ATC Update.....

I take back my positive comment on the ATC. On this current flight it's still getting locked into the loop of repeating the same message and not giving you time to respond so that you can get out of the loop. I've turned the default ATC back off.

It has to be said, streaming content on this scale was not ready for primetime. Being able to select which content to download to your local PC is a good way to let folks see what they were missing without swamping the boat.
For those with the storage capacity and fast internal access to it, having the entire sim installed removes the impact of downed internet service and overloaded MS servers entirely. That is a win for us.
For MS, being able to scale back their streaming services and commit those resources elsewhere is a win for them. Having that happen gradually rather than suddenly is helpful as well.
THIS finally, is a huge step forward for MSFS2024, bugs notwithstanding.

Asking for a friend, How do you join the beta?
 
I was a day or two late in getting the SU2.
I looked at several videos about it

Early this morning I updated all the recommended files in Microsoft Store app Library that is down on my task bar

Updated to the recommended Nvidia driver

I then checked all of my desktop apps like: FSDT, iniManager, Orbx Central, and the Contrail app that told me that the updated Just Flight Piper Arrow + the Turbo version was available…. Yeah … installed it

Deleted the roaming cache
Forgot to do the DX cache

I fired up MSFS 2024,I guess it automatically installed the SU2…and went out for a flight in the Just Flight Piper Arrow

About 1 1/2 hrs into the flight ==>> CTD

Got mad 😡 and took the PC off life support… unplugged it from the damn wall power outlet

Now it’s almost my beddy-bye time and the stoopid thing is stuck at this screen for over 38 minutes

I opted in for the latest beta, and I downloaded pretty much everything that is available. Initially, I only downloaded a few things, some scenery and aircraft; but I couldn't get any flights to actually start. Once I downloaded all of it, the sim works fine so far. I have noticed, however, that the flight models of the helps I tried were mostly uncontrollable. The Sky Crane, for example, went nuts when I tried to fly it. Conversely, the Scout operated just fine. NC
 
I managed to find the info on how to join the beta. Well hidden for those of us who don't read everything.

I downloaded pretty much everything, except my 2020 marketplace stuff. Made a quick flight to check a few things. The first, and so far, best thing is my parking brack did not reset everytime I cycled the landing gear or lowered the flaps. It didn't matter the plane. Before the update, every time I touched down, the brakes would be on full. They were off on touchdown for the first time in months.

Tiger1962, I took a quick look at the aircraft folders. It appears everything still encrypted.
