Skysim Mirage 3 out!

I'm not an FM expert and i just did two short flights.
What i can say is that you need a fairly long runway to take off, it was too short in Coff's harbour ( YSCH from Orbx ) with the aircraft loaded as in the aussie Mirage screenshots. One thing i can say for sure is that i enjoyed the time spent with her.
So far i'd say the FM is believable but don't take my words for granted.

Something to keep in mind with the flight model is that it is preloaded with max external fuel tank capacity (wings and centerline). You have to do that to be able to use them at any capacity. The readme and kneeboard notes discuss this fully and tell how much to remove based on your external stores. That is probably why it seemed like a long takeoff run, you may have been carrying a few hundred more gallons of fuel than you realized.

I cant wait for the SAAF repaints to come out :amen:

Hoi Henk,

Did you buy normally thru Flight1 Wrapper ?

I'm beginning to think this thing literally IS a mirage aka fata morgana.....

Never a problem with the Flight1 Wrapper ( bought half their store ) my account certainly is valid but trying to buy the Skysim Mirage i get nothing else but a message saying that my account is NOT valid.... ( tried both Paypal and CC several times )

Noticed when i search for Skysim at Flight1 nothing turns up. Nothing turns up either searching for Sea Vixen, or Hawk, also Skysim ( and bought there ).

No Skysim stuff whatsoever to find at Flight1..... ( i DL'd the model via Skysim site )

Maybe it's cause i've been waiting too much with baited breath for this Mirage ! :faint:

Just a fata morgana for me at the mo..... :pop4:

Anybody else having a problem buying it from Flight1 ??......

Thanks,
Jan

jan

i managed to download it from skysim without any money down, but after downloading the first time i got a error as it didnt have a file extension then i checked it again on the second download to get the same error, so i gave up on it for now

as for paying for it, i was told you pay for it during the installation, but i never got that far thus i could be talking out of my @ss

It is hosted on the Skysim site and not at Flight1 so it will not be listed at Flight1. The reason to use Flight1 system was to make the installation less troublesome for some regarding activation. I can't say why the file was corrupted and that may be down to bandwidth at the time. Also I am not familiar with the Flight1 system but if you do have an account with them I would assume the registration procedure would be the same for any other product as it is their servers that check and issue the keys. If anybody else has problems with a corrupted file I would ask that the people at Skysim are informed of it because they can't rectify any issue if they don't know about it.

Thanks, gents.

The download went like a Mirage, just getting to pay for it is the problem. Bought the Skysim Sea Vixen and Hawk via the Flight1 wrapper without any hickpup.:friday:

Getting another message now : " there were too many recent login attempts "

Dunno if that means by me or half the simming community... :d

Funny, never had any trouble buying a new FS aircraft i really wanted, not even from CaptainSim... :caked:

Dang!! Wanna play Tanguy & Laverdure finally !! This Mirage looks awesome both inside and out !! :applause::applause::applause:

( any bare-metal skins in the package ??... any screenshots maybe ?? )

Better hit the sack and try again tomorrow.

Btw, thanks for clearing up the fact that no Skysim stuff is advertised at Flight1, FSDSMan. ( are you one of the developers of the Skysim Mirage ?? .... )

Cheers,
Jan

Jan,

There's no need to log in. I had the same problem with Flight1. Don't know why.
Just go ahead an buy without your account. (I didn't notice any difference)
One more tipp: Read the installer carefully! It's a bit strange.
Once installed it's a great plane and VERY interesting to fly and the FM is also really good!

It's the same every time they release a product. To be honest I'm becoming a little disillusioned with the way some British firms are setting up their shops, if it was any other business they'd be hammered by their customers.

Nick, I really have to take issue with this. There have been screenshots up on the website for months now. http://www.skysim.co.uk/window/aircraft/mirage/mirage.html

The online store does not support extra images but the homepage has links to screenshots of all our products.

she is a cow to land - jsut like she should be :D
I find it much easier to make the landing from the under fuselage view. If you come in at the correct attitude in the cockpit it's a lot like the B-58 and F-106 (for obvious reasons) -- get lined up early. That's where the Incidence lights some in handy. Remember power is used to control speed and attitude is used to control rate of descent.

If anybody has problems downloading and getting a corrupt file can you confirm that you may be using Firefox as the browser. Just a hunch.

The FS News pages often link directly to the product page as has happened at the start of this thread. Is it not possible to add a HTML link on the product page to an external page with images?

Yes I am using the latest version of firefox but I could not get a download to even start from the site(Skysim). I set up an acct with all my info, added the Mirage to my basket and sent it through. It says I have 5 downloads( I assume in the Flight 1 Wrapper to make payment for it) but also that the order was pending. A bit confusing!
Is okay, I know it'll get sorted out and I can FINALLY get to enjoy this magnificent work of yours!

(Update)
I just went back to the page to have another look and checked the download link. I clicked the description line-(Dassault Mirage Download -$32.00) to the far left, and the download started.

Hi Mate, Yes.
Explanation:
Originally I was only supposed to give Skysim a product to sell but due to various happenings I had to get more involved.
Basically you need to have windows installer 4.5 or greater for the chained MSI files to work. If you go to the Mirage forum at Skysim there should be some links to the required download (I also made a note of it on the opening page of the Flight1 installer in case you did not read it)
I did the installer so it would run fairly simply and all you have to do is make sure the correct paths are entered if FSX is not installed in the default directory when asked. With a chained MSI package you need installer 4.5 or greater for it to work and this is freely available from the links provided and most systems if they run windows update would have this.
Hope this helps
I will see what I can do about the non supported browsers but it is down to Skysim to fix it
I have started on my own site now and MOST of my future work will be done through that and also my old stuff that is being re-worked and rebuilt but some projects will still go through Skysim.
Site is very much under construction as I have been a bit busy of late.
