Thanks to Jens-Ole - he did a wonderfull Job at the SAAF - Paints :ernae:. And also many thanks to Frank, who host them at his Site :ernae:.

Many thanks for sharing them with us

The FS News pages often link directly to the product page as has happened at the start of this thread. Is it not possible to add a HTML link on the product page to an external page with images?
Click on the picture of the Mirage on the home page.

Someone could but the nearest airframe in the set is the French RD version and that has the doppler bulge. There is a reasonable chance that a second package with the Cheeta's and full Swiss models along with Daggers etc will apear later but I do mean later. But if you can ignore the Doppler then so be it.

Kudos to you Mark and the rest who built this outstanding model! Was a little bit of a wait but well worth it and every dollar spent. I say to anyone who loves Mirage type aircraft this is a must buy and anyone else who likes fast jets!

Good to see that my repaints have been picked up already!

Mark; A Cheetah will be most welcome! At least the Cheetah E should be a rather easy rebuild of the Mirage IIIE (which it also was based on in the real life). The ultimate Cheetah C is probably a little more work.

Well, this French Lady sure's been playing hard to get !! No wonder though, she has EXCEPTIONNEL EXCELLENCE written all over her !! :applause::applause::applause:

( tip for the Skysim Mirage homepage : make it undoubtedly clear that one needs to install 'Windows Installer 4.5' first, with a link to download it ! The small annoucement on the Flight1 wrapper dialog is insufficient and doesn't say anything about what exactly it is and where to get it. )

The models, outside and in, are nothing short of pure professional art. The textures are beautiful ( could've done with a bit of weathering ), the sound, outside and in, is great, and she flies like a dream. I even greased a first landing of which i was mighty proud because i did not **** just yet.

Ok, i might've scratched a bit of paint off of the lower fin along the run. The aerodynamic braking works absolutely fabulous ! ( to busy to keep the nose up to look for the chute handle )

What i kinda miss is a bare-metal skin for some of these mademoiselles. If you ask me they just look best without any clothes on, like most mademoiselles do. :caked:

Hopefully someone comes to the rescue here, preferably photoreal, or i'll do it myself if i get a chance.

One itsy bitsy thingy i'd love to see changed with a possible update of these models : the 'moving reflections' on the VC canopy/windscreen glass. Internal glass reflections are not suppose to 'move' because they don't reflect the outside, just the inside of the cockpit. I find them pretty destracting from the otherwise excellent awareness of being inside the cockpit of a Mirage. Many thanks on forehand !

Always wanted a full blown, all singing and dancing MirageIII in FS, now i've got one and i don't think it could've been done any better. Mark Harper, you Sir, are a genious ! Thank you so much !! :ernae:

A votre santé,
Laverdure

Hi,

It looks amazing :applause: It there a paint kit available and are there specular maps on it?

Thanks

The paint kit will be available as soon as I have time to assemble and document it as I am sure you can imagine the amount of debris all over my disks in doing the originals for 5 different versions. Specular maps on this is very basic although I did try various settings etc. There will be nothing to stop anybody making their own spec and bump maps from the kit should they wish to do so or use the default.

Some Screen Shots

I love cockpit screen shots, so I figured I'd try to take a few

Love this plane!

Sounds very nice indeed. The reason for asking for spec maps was that many Mirages used glossy camouflage colours, among them the SAAF. Just wondered.

Hi,
You do not need spec maps to achieve a glossy finish with this. You can have a normal Alpha channel in the main textures and this will control the shine levels and the spec with Alpha will control the power and the spread of the shine

The SAAF textures are in fact rather glossy, but not easy to spot that in 2d screenshots.

It not before the mid 80's that the SAAF started to introduce several experimental matt camouflage schemes (as the "air2air scheme seen on the F1CZ and some other aircraft as IIIRZ "837") due to combat experience showing that the glossy colors and paint scheme in use made the aircraft easy to spot even in camouflage.

Man... What a fun and challenging aircraft to fly.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Just tried to do a slow roll with undercarriage out like I used to see at the South African DEXA air shows years ago. Man that guy could fly!<o:p></o:p>

I just become a law dart! :gameoff:

Kudos to the developers. It was worth every cent.

Ben

Jens-Ole's SAAF repaints are quite glossy. Any moreso and they would look like they were out in the rain. So if anyone wants a gloss finish on their own repaints study his textures. French birds were matte finish from the factory or after a depot repaint. But over time they developed a sheen as the paint was rubbed down from ground handling and air friction (sort of like certain keys on your keyboard).

A tip that may be useful. When installing, the ‘first phase’ of the installer dir not close. I had to close it manually by using the Task Manager. Then the ‘second phase’ started automatically, installing the plane, effects and textures in FSX. All seemed to have worked all right. Take care that if you use toe Task manager to close the ‘first phase’ that you do not accidentally close the ‘second phase’ too.
