I was flying with FS9 on this FSHOST server for the last couple of weeks. Can anybody tell me something about it? I found it by chance, and noticed on the Player Hoplist Status Page, that some of our members had flown on it back in 2011.

There are a lot of hours logged on that server and the previous servers by members here.

I think I set the first one up in 2009 in my apartment in Florida. I set it up on a used Dell Poweredge 2500. We flew on it until 2012 when Ickie purchased the windows server we started using for FSHost. That was the beginning of Sim-outhouse.net.

I think it was 2022 or 2023 when we shut down the Windows server and I took the FSHost server back into my house. It's been running on a Windows 10 Virtual machine in my basement for the last 3 years. Up until the last 3 months the connection has been pretty crappy. Now I have better Internet at home it should be stable but the IP Address is dynamic and likely to change. In fact will change when the modem reboots.

There are 6 Hop List servers running on that machine.


Only the second one lists the current hoplist. The others used to buy the text is gone. I can tell it's time to update some of that code. The style is missing, background image missing and other errors.

FSHost had mostly been replaced by Joinfs but as far as I know FSHost is still the only way to fly online with FS9 (other than self hosting).
 
I have lots of happy hours spent on those servers over the years Dave. In fact it took me years to complete the 900+ leg around the world tour but I did finally complete it!
 
There used to be a moving map on it but all that old google code died years ago so it was removed. I found new code but don't have the time to experiment with it.
 
I was wondering how you found it. FSHostSpy through a virus warning to me. It was blocked by Eset. Not that it is a virus but what ever it contacted tried to inject a virus.
 
I see the issue isn't FSHost spy. The issue is the other host is trying to inject a virus when you connect to it. I tried to go to the page to see who's server it is. It got blocked with the same message FSHOstSPy caused.

So we are the last one.
 
I see the FSHostSpy hacker gave their virus server an IP address now; "177.96.19.24". Before it was some .edu site. I could never understand how those people get their get kicks out of ruining it for others. What an A..H...

I'll be interested by multiplayer (Hawker Hunter anyone ou Jet Provost?) but in ECT time. Technically how does it work?
 
Quick Question: How does one submit the Flightplans, so that they are displayed at the Host Website?
I haven’t that figuered out yet…

Oh and would it be possible, to also display the Mach Number on the Speed, as Speeds above 10’000ft usually change to Mach numbers rather than remain in Knots.

The flight plans are installed onto the server(s) by the Server Admin (DD26) and users don't have the ability to add their own directly. Years ago some people used to create new flight plans and submit them to Dave and he would change out some of the servers on a monthly basis (i.e. on the first on the month a new flight plan would appear). Longer hop lists, like the Round the World server, never changed so that people could continue with the hop list over extended periods. I was one of just a few people who actually completed the 950+ hops and it literally took me YEARS to finish the list!

As far as I remember the speed is only displayed in knots regardless of altitude and is not changeable. I also don't remember anymore if the speed is IAS, TAS or GS.

You're confusing Hop List with FSHost flight plans.

Honestly I have never used the Flight Plan function. The FSHost website is still online. You might find the answers there.

Select help from the menu in the left.

Then select Flight Plan.
