Some wonderful old ALphasim Freeware planes that I wish I could fix

All gone a bit quiet, I wondered where things were with the Jag revamp?

Nigel, you know you mentioned if there was any particular soundpack ....... :kilroy:

:wiggle:A promise is a promise Andy...this morning, I told Smoothie I'd be offline for a few days, so just before legging it back to my little haven (in spite of Matt's influence on the aerial activities there) the Jag is yours mate! It will be my pleasure. Just give me a little time on it.

The Lancaster is taking shape, as is the Napier Sabre. I may however slip the Jag in before the Sabre.

...my advice to you buddy is; Don't leave her alone! You're making valuable input on a very great subject. And I know how long you've been waiting to express your HAF interest. Do it. Be not lead astray!

And on that tone Gentlemen, I leave you all in peace in order that I can get down to some serious work on these projects!...and you all get some peace from my 'cramming' :icon_lol:

Cheers, Nigel

*cough* "Tempests" *cough*

Really need to knuckle down with your tutorial Matt, those Lincolns are calling out to me - this damn real world stuff is so inconvenient!! :icon_lol:

eugh! tell me about it Andy... i mean geez my luck with women is continuing... 1 step forwards 5 back.... at least today is clear so i'm continuing with Phantom, gonna try and keep rest of the week clear as well see if i can't get more done, especially on Jag and Temp II, this is what happens when HAF gets mentioned with me about :icon_lol:

I understand that Matt; got a soft spot for the EPA myself; I actually spent most of yesterday afternoon downloading the HSP, GAP and others scenery to give myself a nice area to fly your Phantom's around - now all I need to do is find time to install the stuff!!!

Speaking of which, I'm sure between yourself and Nigel I can get the answer to this question - I've got superb FS Genesis mesh (another Greek word folks) installed, do I need to install the HSP mesh as well or will the two clash horribly?

i actually prefer the HSP mesh to the FSGenesis one, i don't know why, perhaps just personal preference...

Remember if flying Phantoms for maximum immersion to start from Larisa (LGLR), Tanagra (LGTG) or even Souda/Heraklion (ICAO escapes me at present), if you find yourself over LGKO northern shore if you look at a map theres a place called Tigaki, thats my birthplace :jump:, Kos town itself is about 4mi from Turkish mainland, kinda close, on a clear night you can see the lights of Turkey over the water, kinda eerie to know that you're within Artillery range :icon_lol:

anyways back on topic HSP is the best i know of for Greece, as it adds a few other features like the oil rigs, ultralight 'ports', and adds buildings etc... to most of the HAF Bases....

Thanks Matt.

Yes, I know the "eerie" feeling in your part of the world - when I was a schoolkid I went on one of the education cruises on the SS Uganda (later a hospital ship during the Falklands unpleasantness). First port of call after Venice was Corfu (this was early '70s, so the fuel crisis meant that the originally planned stop at Dubrovnik was cancelled); after a couple of very pleasant days in Corfu we had the 'pleasure' of being escorted on our way by a heavily armed Albanian gunboat - not quite sure what threat a ship full of 11 year old schoolkids posed, but never mind.

Won't all be Phantom flying; working on a decent panel for Itosan's C-27A Spartan (another etc .....) so I can fly something appropriate out of Elefsis.

yeah, I do like the C-27J and C-130 in HAF markings, parents just got back from a holiday on Lesbos, met them at the airport and got asked "what do you know about one of the days last week?", just smirked and said "oh you mean that C-130 out of Mitilini?" and was promptly treated to "and i though we'd get a holiday not a freaking airshow"....

C-27J panel you say.... now i'm intrigued... that'd be the 112CW, 354 Tactical Transport Squadron, callsign 'Pigasos' (Pegasus), will see if i can pull any strings with them for you :salute:

I've got some ok reference material, but nothing good enough to use for a panel bitmap, so that could make for something interesting, and some external to do some specific rather than generic paints would be fun!! :salute:

It's a typical Itosan production, decent enough exterior model, fighter FDE (not sure what I'm going to do about that, I may look at swapping it out with something comparable) and (bizarrely, he did this for a while) no panel at all!! I've adapted a C-130 soundset, and started to look for suitable gauges - got something basic in place, but it would be nice to go that step further. Even looking at the possibility of a 179th Air Lift Wing repaint for our colleague from Ohio to use.

On the mesh business Andy, I don't have Genesis so suck it and see!
You must get the GAP Thessaloniki airport scenery as well as the manyother beautiful sceneries by GAP. All freeware too at Avsim. I think they've put up some awesome photoreal stuff too as well; check it out!

The usual please!

Too damned right! Buzzed Tuesday am. Turn to my wife and say: thats the soundset I just U/Led to SOH!

I dashed indoors, feeling very pleased to myself...fire up fs, then....Holy ****es!!!,half the sounds dont show up! Then I discover that I've given all you guys the wrong bally sound cfg!!!

Stay tuned and please don't shoot the piano player! We will give you Rock & Roll!!!

Got the lot Nigel! Haven't installed the photoreal stuff yet, but everything else is in place now. All that's needed to complete the picture is some decent HAF AI; I'm using Kostis Prassas' packs as a basis, but swapping out some of the aircraft (as there are now better alternatives) and making some amendments - for example, I've deleted his A-7 data, as the MAIW pack has totally superceded it.

But I've also got myself a little sidetracked, look for the thread on Ito's C-27 and you'll see what I mean.

I think there's a few more Greek goodies in the pipeline over at MAIW, you know how it works over there, they dont do previews or release dates, they like to suprise you :jump:
Greece has become one of my favorite areas to fly so i cant wait, esp as F4's may be involved, intrestingly, the A7 pack was title'd "HAF pack 2" or something similer, one wonders where pack 1 got to.
cheers ian

Sorry if this threads moved on a bit but on the topic of old ALPHASIM models could somebody out there do me a favor and try and drop this into fs2004 and tell me if it works? I've got 3 copies of the same aircraft one on an old JF fs98 cold war airpower disk another from flightsim.com and one from the old alphasim freeware site but it keeps throwing its toys out of the pram when i try and select it from the list is anyone else having the same trouble? The same happens for cfs2 and it wont even show up in fs98!!!

Kind regards Hooky

Hi Hooky, got your PM by the way.
It might be a Panel/ sound issue, try replacing them with FS2004 models, anything shold do, even the default cessna, just to see if it works, then you can find better alternatives from the main download sites.
cheers ian
