something for the shimmering

Is there a set of ground textures that will decrease the shimmering of FS9? Even with the autogen off the ground shimmers relentlessly. It's not my video cards...two gtx 8800's... they work flawlessly in other games. It didn't use to bother me, but after using FSX for the last year I need to do something about it.

Freeware or payware, I'll entertain any suggestions.

I asked about this once. I had been flying FSX exclusively and uninstalled FS9. When I went back to it I noticed a serious shimmer problem and was told that adjusting the mipmapping setting in FS9 would eliminate that. I had mine set to the maximum of 8 and lowered it to 5 and all is well. (mipmapping is in the hardware settings under display options in the setup).

Well, that was an easy fix, thanks Falcon. I had the MIP's at max, so I played with it at various settings and 5 was spot on...4 was too blurry and 6 was too shimmery.

If only there was a MIP's tweek for real life.

Hey, that worked for me too. I changed the MIP mapping quality to 4 then 5 and my trees stopped shimmering.

Just wanted to say thanks to Bone for asking the question and thanks to Falcon for the answer.

Cheers chaps.
