Spitfire!

I've been having this itch to fly some Spitfires and decided to scratch it a bit. Taking off from the Supermarine factory in Southampton, I headed east to Croydon airfield near London in the original Spitfire prototype. Had a slight problem on landing at Croydon and went through a fence, a tree line and ended up on the motorway before it would stop.

After taxiing back onto the airfield, I switched to a Mk VIII and flew on over London to get my bearings. Once I found the Thames, I knew where I was at and just followed it down to Southend and from there, Merc Air HQ at Rochford was easy to find.

The prototype from Aeroplane Heaven and the Mk VIII is AlphaSim's.

Didn't see any reporter, so I hopped in a Mk IX and took off to cross the Channel into Belgium and stop over at the BAF airbase on the coast at Koksijde.

I'm enjoying this and might just have to run through my Spitfire collection ;).

The Mk IX is from AlphaSim

Gotta love flying a Spit around, I do so regularly,so much so that mine looks a bit worse for wear, lol.

indeed the good old Spity was famed for it's innovative skin construction, cornedamilium, a bonded skin formed from compressed breakfast flakes and Dutch cheese. :d

:d

PS. cheated a bit, was an Emil in CFS2.

I was going to ask where he got that shot up paint and what Spit it was for! I've got a shot to pieces paint for the simTech Do 335.

I don't have any Spitfires. :frown: But I do have one of these! :) Can I play too?

I actually thought you was a dab hand with Alpha channels rather then it been an Emil :applause: for trickin the sim-outhouse idiot :icon_lol:

UKV,

actually your right, the damage textures called up by CFS2 often and usually use alpha channel for holes, etc.

;)

NICE Shot of that RealAir MkXIV crate, 'Enry....:ernae: Looks like the RealAir/A2A Version to me anyway...
After seeing that I just had to jump into mine and go for a hop.

Oo Ooo I wanna play too!!:jump:
Sometime back Aeroplane Heaven was offering their Spitfire Prototype for free--are they still doing that? I lost mine a couple of computers back.

Brought in the New Year flying a Mk XVI of the Belgian AF from Koksijde to Templehof-Berlin. It was a bit of a blizzard coming into Templehof and they insisted that I fly IFR, but I just scud run it on in and landed anyway. If they fuss too much I'll just claim a fuel emergency and a busted radio.

Next up, an engine change!

ETA: Speaking of the Mk XVI, a :icon29: in the Cantina to the first one who can tell what's the difference between a Mk IX and a Mk XVI. ;)
