SR22 Opinions

I just noticed that the SR22 from the original Premium Deluxe package is available to buy in the Marketplace. Is it worth the $10 to buy it, or should I pass?

I like it, the G1000 cockpit feels more like a Dreamliner than a GA plane. Plus there are dozens of superb freeware liveries by Ryan and TimHH for it too.

Well, I bought it, but there's an issue. The sale page for the plane shows two distinct liveries, but only one is included with the actual download. I posted on the MS forum, but no one in authority has responded. I'm also opening a support ticket with the following:
The purchase page for the SR22 advertises at least two liveries, one with stripes on the fuselage, and another with colors on the upper wingtips. After purchasing, there is only one livery available to select, and only one texture folder inside the SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_SR22 folder.

Surely this must be some sort of mistake, because I find it hard to believe that a reputable company such as Microsoft would ever engage in blatant "Bait and Switch" advertising such as this.

A couple of silly questions Tom:
Did you restart the sim before loading the SR22?
Have you checked your Library for any inactive SR22 liveries - they may have to be activated or downloaded separately.

Just finished a short flight. It's a nice little flyer - decently fast for a single. My only gripe (as with so many other low wing singles) is that I have to keep switching tanks to maintain balance.

The G1000 setup is different from any other plane too. Most of the controls are in the center console instead of on the bezels. It takes a little getting used to, but it works well.

If you want a more luxury one, look at FS.to for liveries (matching co-piloting dog not included)
There is also a nice (payware) sound pack available

The liveries I've seen either have baked in reg's or none at all. I was able to open the default stripe livery and retune the stripes to blue shades instead of those dull browns. But what I really want is a mod that will allow the copilot to be visible in the cockpit.

There is no mod but you can modify the "model" file. (make a backup before you start!)
1. Open your Asobo_SR22 file (most likely in MSFS/ official) and then the "mod" file.
2. You will find a "Cirrus_interior.xml. Open this with Notepad++ and
3. change
<LOD minSize="150" ModelFile="SR22_COCKPIT_LOD00.gltf"/> to
<LOD minSize="150" ModelFile="SR22_COCKPIT_LOD01.gltf"/>
4. Save and refresh - done
That's the simpliest way but do not work with all mods. Some reqiure more attention but in general, you can even add a crew to airplanes that do come without any visible avatars.

First, a bit of background. I still fly FSX, but that's another story. I bought a laptop a year or so ago and got the Prem. Dlx. version of 2020. I've never been one to dive into the "new" so I took my time setting up 2020 and mostly enjoy it, including the Cirrus. It fits nicely into some of my sim flying and (other than the need to look down at that center stack) it's been a pleasant experience.
Then the laptop Mobo died... mostly painless - it was replaced with a new machine under warranty and I didn't have a backup but that's OK. No loss except the need to re-install some stuff but that's probably a blessing too. So now I'm at the point of getting back to flying 2020.

However, I'm reminded that a friend has a SR-22 with a unique paint scheme (Training Air Wing 6, Pensacola). I'm at an age where I don't really want to go through the hoops of learning new paint methods, so if someone is willing to tackle a project, it would be great...

If there's a volunteer, I have design drawings and close-ups of all the decals and stencils. PM me and we can discuss it.
